24 hours after the Christmas Day terrorist bombing that destroyed several blocks of downtown Nashville, Tennessee, media outlets continue to refer to the attack as an “explosion” even though the known public evidence reveals the attack as terrorism. Here is what we know. Early Christmas morning Nashville police responded to the downtown area due to reports of shots fired. Arriving on the scene, they discovered a suspicious RV that was blasting warnings from loudspeakers warning people to evacuate the area. Eye witness reports also say the message changed to a countdown at around 15 minutes prior to the detonation of the bomb. As someone who served as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal technician I hope every American realizes this type of attack on civilian targets is the most despicable action, especially on Christmas Day. The attack was an obvious ambush of police officers and anyone who claims the bombers were trying to limit casualties doesn’t recognize the reality that a large vehicle borne improvised explosive device is as indiscriminate as it gets in the business of killing innocent civilians.
