Israeli government justifies killing child protesters in Gaza: They’re not in school

972 MAG – Education Minister Naftali Bennett claims 15-year-old Mohammed Ayoub wouldn’t have been shot dead by an Israeli sniper if he had been at school. Bennett’s comments reflect a reality in which Israeli soldiers kill with impunity. 

The Israeli army kills children. That isn’t new. Occasionally, the name of one of those children appears in the headlines, and the Israeli authorities are forced to respond. Their responses almost always expose a truth more terrible than the killings themselves.

Soldiers celebrate as they shoot Palestinians in West Bank (Video)

ELECTRONIC INTIFADA – This video shows Israeli occupation soldiers celebrating as they fire weapons at Palestinians in the occupied West Bank village of Madama, near Nablus, on 13 April. It also catches them discussing the use of live ammunition against Palestinians who pose no threat, before censoring themselves because the exchange is being filmed.

According to the human rights group B’Tselem, which published the video, about 30 residents were trying to remove a roadblock the army had placed at the entrance to the village. CONTINUE READING
