Our youngest decided to skip college. He got into a 4-year apprenticeship with a metal fabrication company. During his apprenticeship he went back to his old high school to talk to a shop class about jobs in the skilled trades. The kids asked him how much he made at that time, and he told them. The teacher was shocked and told the students that was more than she earned (with a master’s degree.) Our son is now a Journeyman in the union and purchased his first house at age 22. His job also can’t be done with AI.

I’m a Boomer, born in 52. I don’t know why things changed, but I knew all about interest rates, bank accounts, and a thousand other mundane going about your life things by the end of high school. I can’t think of a reason why they stopped teaching this stuff, but obviously, they did, I think that’s criminal.

Comment: Banksters run the U.S. and they OBVIOUSLY wanted everyone indebted which is why the schools (Likely due to lobbying by the banksters) quit teaching about Finance, Interest, Loans, etc.

Accepted to a sister Ivy; even with financial aid, parents simply had no money to finance the remainder. Had to enroll at a community college; worked full time at Subway, lived at home, and saved. Eventually applied to and accepted at an actual Ivy. Even with 2 jobs, and living as frugally as I could, graduated with just under 15k of debt in the midst of the 2008 recession. Again, always appreciated the value of the dollar and stretched and cut wherever I could; was able to pay off my loans and even my clunker car in its entirety some 4 years later. Been working in healthcare since 2012; living quite comfortably now compared to most and I am thankful for it.
