In a stunning turn of events in Lonoke County, Aaron Spencer has won the Republican primary for Sheriff—all while facing first-degree murder charges. 
The story began in 2024 when Spencer discovered his 13-year-old daughter was missing. He found her in a vehicle with a 67-year-old man who was out on bond for sexual offenses against her. Spencer’s defense maintains he did what any father would do: he protected his child from a predator.
Now, the man arrested by the current department has defeated the sitting Sheriff. Spencer ran on a platform of “accountability,” claiming the system failed his family when they needed help most.
