Trump’s Return: U.S. Plans For Iran Isolation While Russia & Iran Sign 20 Year Defense Partnership

SPEAKER 2
It is January 19th, 2025, and not only are Hamas and Israel entering into a deal that includes a six-week ceasefire and the exchange of hostages, but we are also one day away from Donald Trump returning to the White House. So what is Trump’s return going to mean for Trump? really the entire world at this point, right?
0:21
We look at the Middle East. We look at the fact that for the next six weeks at least, Israel is expected to not drop any bombs on the Gaza Strip. So what is that preparing them for, right? Are they looking at a much larger regional conflict?
0:36
And could Trump be just kind of the latest useful tool in bringing that about? I’m, of course, talking about Iran and the situation now that you no longer have the Assad government in Syria. What does that mean for the potential for a war involving the U.S., Israel and Iran?
0:56
And then we also have the situation over in Ukraine where Trump has campaigned so heavily on ending the war there. He has sworn that he would do it as soon as he got into office. Well, anyone paying attention knows it’s not going to be quite that easy.
1:11
And the signs that we’re getting from at least Trump’s cabinet so far have been that they’re not exactly going to be looking at doing everything that they can to get a deal. In fact, it looks like they may be trying to put more pressure on Russia, thinking that they will then get to the negotiating table.

Transcript

Trump returns to the White House on Monday, surrounded by a cabinet that is openly referring to China as the “biggest threat” to the U.S. and warning about war in the next decade. While Trump campaigned on ending the war in Ukraine, he’s in for a wake-up call when he enters talks with Russia. And even though Trump is being credited with getting the Israel-Hamas deal across the finish line, the ceasefire the two sides just entered into is only set to last for six weeks.

Brian Berletic, a geopolitical analyst and Host of The New Atlas, noted that while the break from Israel’s bombing of the Gaza Strip is a relief for the Palestinians, it’s also a break for Israel… and it could be setting them up for future conflict with Iran, especially now that the overthrow of the Syrian government has opened up the region for the next target on the list of Neocons in Washington.

Trump may have campaigned on “peace,” but his team is pursuing the opposite, as they work to weak the allies of their ultimate target: China.
