Amish Cabins For Christ Initiative to Help Helene Victims
In December 2024, over 60 Amish builders from Pennsylvania traveled to Boone, North Carolina to build 12 tiny homes for Hurricane Helene victims. The project was completed in just a few days and cost over $300,000, which was entirely funded by the Amish community.

- Donated tools, propane tanks, and fire department equipment to the local community
- Prepared meals and handed out gifts, toys, and clothing
Why they did it:

- To demonstrate their community service and generosity
- To show that organizations like FEMA could benefit from similar approaches
- The men built the homes, while the women and children prepared meals and handed out gifts
- They worked in relay teams
Where they worked:
- At the Cornerstone Summit Church in Boone
Who they worked with:
- The Cabins for Christ initiative, a nonprofit organization that provides temporary housing solutions for disaster victims
