Sept. 28, 2022 (EIRNS)—There are outstanding features of the Sept. 26 multiple detonations of the Nord Stream 1 and and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, from the point of view of, who had the opportunity, motive and insanity to conduct such sabotage. Many informed sources have come out with to-the-point commentary on this, summarized below, which points the finger at the NATO bloc.
The first and “official” reactions from Brussels, Washington, and London assume a “golly, let’s investigate sabotage” approach; but from the point of view of cui bono, the impact is not a mystery. Hundreds of thousands of people have been in the streets across Europe in recent days, demanding the reopening of Nord Stream 1, the opening of Nord Stream 2, for negotiations to start to settling the Ukraine war, and for the sanctions against Russia to end, and for life in Europe to become livable again, now and in the future. People have demanded: open Nord Stream 2, and the energy crisis will go away. Now, the pipeline sabotage blows that sky high.
All of a sudden, no Nord Stream pipelines. At least one repair company couldn’t begin to do repairs, even if commissioned, because it is under sanctions. Plus, today, the EU Commission announced the eighth round of sanctions against Russia, including measures to enforce worldwide penalties for buying Russian oil, at a price over what the EU dictates.
Noteworthy is the fact that on Sept. 26, the day of the sabotage of the Nord Stream lines, the new Baltic Gas Pipeline opened, conveying gas from Norway and Danish fields to Poland. The project originated two decades ago, and has recently been completed, to great applause from Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, saying, “This gas pipeline is the end of the era of dependence on Russian gas….”
Schiller Institute leader Helga Zepp-LaRouche today noted the parallels between the Nord Stream explosions with the circumstances of the 2001 9/11 atrocities, in terms of what American statesman Lyndon LaRouche pointed out at the time: U.S. airspace then was completely NORAD monitored, along with other federal surveillance capacities, so the question of who could bring off such a hit, went right to networks embedded in the U.S., not to some exclusively alien source.
Look at the Baltic Sea. It is small, and completely monitored by NATO. It is one of the most closely-surveilled water bodies in the world, and highly congested with commercial, military, wind farm and other activity. The surveillance includes the agencies of NATO, Russia, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. With the civilian and military sonar and related sensing, it is impossible to conduct such a massive hit on the pipelines, without notice, or more to the point, without complicity. Look at the island of Bornholm, near where one explosion occurred. The Danes, the Swedes, and Germans all have close surveillance.
Many articles now are raising competent points, including from the German website NachDenkSeiten, and from the strategic reporting blog “Moon Over Alabama,” and others.
What could have delivered the explosives? There are different possibilities, including underwater drones, submarine-conveyed combat swimmers, and various devices.
Of note, is the fact that at the BALTOPS (Baltic Operations) NATO Baltic Sea military drill operations on June 5-17, there were U.S. Marine “Seapower” military exercises, involving maneuvers near the island of Bornholm. The huge exercise otherwise involved 45 warships, and the flagship carrier USS Kearsarge. This vessel conducted tests for special sub-sea mine destruction technologies.
Now we find that in recent days, the USS Kearsarge once again was back in the vicinity, within 10 miles of Bornholm Island.
These kinds of specifics are the context in which to understand the literal import of what President Biden told an ABC reporter on Feb. 7, 2022, “If Russia invades … then there will no longer be a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it.” To the reporter’s question, “But how will you do that, exactly, since … the project is in Germany’s control?” Biden replied, “I promise you, we will be able to do that.”
Comment: Victoria Nuke’em Nuland said the same.
