Prisoner of War Camp #334

The United States of America calls this land Prisoner of War camp #334 – The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation established on March 2, 1889. Our ancestors were sent here to die and end the United States Indian problem.

Less than two years later, in December 1890, they sent the 7th Cavalry to kill hundreds of our women and children like cowards.
When that didn’t work, they tried multiple other paths, including stealing our children and putting them in Kill the Indian, Save the Man boarding schools.
Yet here we are 133 years later with our best years ahead of us. The life of a Lakota is a hard life but a good life. Our people are returning to our original teaching and spiritual ways.
This land they call a prisoner of war camp will have all eyes looking toward us for wisdom soon.
