Introducing Judge Debra Jones:

Judge Debra Jones is a Constitutional Conservative Republican running for the Alabama Supreme Court. For too long now we have seen activist Judges mischaracterize, misuse, and ignore the constitution of the United States and the State Constitution of Alabama. Judge Jones will never legislate from the bench and will always serve fairly, morally, and impartially. Judge Jones has overseen numerous cases including capital murder, rape, child sexual abuse, medical malpractice and wrongful death. Judicial experience should matter, and with Judge Jones on the Supreme Court, experience will never be in question.Read More About Judge Jones Here:

Pro-Life

I’ve spent my entire life supporting and fighting for those who cannot speak for themselves. A baby is a precious gift of life. We must do everything we can to stand up and protect their lives.

02.

Pro-Gun

The gun-grabbing liberals will stop at nothing in their efforts to seize lawfully owned firearms from law-abiding American citizens. I’ll stand firm and enforce the second amendment as its written– not as the liberals “interpret” it.

(Judge Debra Jones Campaign)

Circuit Judge Debra Jones has qualified as a candidate for the Alabama Supreme Court, Place 1. She has been a Circuit Judge in Calhoun and Cleburne counties since 2010. Judge Jones, a Republican, is running for the open seat created by the resignation of Justice Glenn Murdock. The Republican primary is June 5, 2018.

“My judicial philosophy is that judges should follow their oath of office by respecting the rule of law, by strictly interpreting the law according to the constitutions as they are written, and by applying the law without fear and without favor.  As Circuit Judge with years of criminal and civil jury trial experience, I have served with integrity, discernment, and honesty.  I have consistently and fairly applied the law equally to everyone according to the constitutions of Alabama and of the United States.  As an attorney, I have practiced in many areas of the law, particularly in criminal, civil, probate, juvenile, and family law. This invaluable experience will be an asset to the Alabama Supreme Court and the people of Alabama.”

Judge Jones has a distinguished 28 year legal career.  Before her election to the bench, Jones served the citizens by advocating for the rights of abused women and children.  She began her legal career as a prosecutor in the District Attorney’s office where she founded the Calhoun Cleburne Children’s Advocacy Center.  The children’s center is a professional residential place for children to be interviewed by trained counselors when they have been victims of abuse or neglect. Jones wrote the Sexual Torture Act, which criminalized the sexual abuse of any person with an inanimate object as a class A felony and she wrote the Felony DUI Act.  After forming her own practice, Judge Jones co-founded Daybreak Rape Crisis Center, a free counseling center for rape victims.  She also founded and operated Mercy House, a faith-based domestic violence shelter for women and children.

Judge Jones is a graduate of the University of Alabama and of Cumberland Law School.  Jones and her husband, William, have been married 26 years and have five children.  Three children attended Alabama colleges with two having recently graduated and one completing a degree.  Two children are in public high school.  “Alabama is our home.  We were born, raised, and educated in Alabama.  We have lived, worked, and worshipped here our entire lives.  I want to give back to this great State by serving on the State’s Highest Court.”

JUDGE DEBRA H. JONES FOR ALABAMA SUPREME COURT PLACE #1“Justice for All”

Debra H. Jones, Circuit Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit, Calhoun and Cleburne Counties, has qualified to be a Republican candidate for Associate Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court Place #1.  The seat is currently held by Justice Thomas Woodall who will not seek re-election.  Justice Woodall will be retiring in 2012.  The Republican primary will be held March 13, 2012.

Judge Jones seeks to bring balance to the Court.  “It does not matter if one is a trial lawyer or a business lawyer.  What matters is what the constitution says about the issues.  I strictly apply the constitutions of Alabama and of the United States. In my courtroom, everyone is treated fairly and equally, with dignity and respect.”  For years special interests have spent millions of dollars on judicial races in an attempt to elect their candidates to Alabama’s appellate courts.  Judge Jones states, “From the trial lawyers to big business, the pendulum has swung from one extreme of justices to the other.  It’s not about the pendulum. It’s about the plumb line. Right is right and wrong is wrong.”

Judge Jones states she will not accept money from special interest groups.  She will depend on friends and supporters for financial contributions.  “Justice is not for sale. Justice is for all.  I have faith in the voters to return the Supreme Court to the people.”

Judge Jones is a graduate of The University of Alabama where she was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa leadership society and other honorary organizations.  She is a graduate of Cumberland School of Law where she served on a law review. She began her legal career in Calhoun County as an Assistant District Attorney where she served for four years.  During her public service as an Assistant District Attorney she wrote several laws and co-founded the Calhoun Cleburne Children’s Advocacy Center.  She then served the community in private practice for 16 years. She has been involved in many civic organizations and outreach ministries. She founded a faith-based domestic violence shelter which she owned and operated for years.  She was elected to the bench in 2010 and has served Calhoun and Cleburne counties as a civil and criminal jury Circuit Judge.  She has been married to William A. Jones for twenty years and they have five children.  “Our children make us thankful that we live in America: one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,” Judge Jones said.
