URGENT UPDATE:

Stop Extreme Gun-Control Bills H.R. 5717 & S. 3254!

Under the “cover” of the Coronavirus crisis, Representative Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) introduced the most austere anti-Second Amendment companion bills in the House and Senate (H.R. 5717 and S. 3254), known as the “Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act of 2020.”

This far-reaching and onerous bill would:

• Prohibit Americans from owning virtually any semi-automatic rifle,
• Require all Americans to get a national permit in order to purchase a firearm,
• Institute a 30% tax on purchasing a firearm and a 50% tax on purchasing ammunition,
• Provide jail time for anyone who buys more than one firearm within a one-month period,
• Criminalize the sale of “high capacity” magazines,
• Establish a national gun registry,
• Institute a nation-wide “Red Flag Gun Seizures” law,
• Require all gun-owners to lock up their firearms at all times,
• Criminalize the sale of any firearm to a person under 21,
• Ban firearm suppressors (i.e. silencers), and
• Criminalize manufacturing a gun in your own home (i.e. 3-D printed guns).

These measures are completely unconstitutional, violating the Second Amendment, which explicitly states (emphasis added below):

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
