While Psychotic Regime Changers Go Wild, A Revolutionary Spirit Is Spreading Worldwide

Oct. 6 (EIRNS)—Drawing a sharp contrast between the actions of crazed central bankers, and the eco-fascists and regime changers they have funded and unleashed, Helga Zepp-LaRouche today, in a Schiller Institute webcast, spoke of the spirit of revolutionary optimism sweeping the globe. The effort to impeach Trump, she said, may very well backfire, as the investigation into the coup by Attorney General Barr and U.S. Attorney Durham continues, with meetings in Britain and Italy, to smoke out the real foreign interference in the 2016 U.S. election—which was not by Russia!

At the same time, the attempt to use the terroristic rampage by “a virulent and loud minority” in Hong Kong, meant to trigger regime change in China, will not succeed, as the vast majority of Chinese people are optimistic about their future, she asserted. The intervention by the British Governor of Hong Kong, Chris Patten, calling for “the people” to form an alternative government in Hong Kong, makes clear the British Empire role behind the coup efforts. The Chinese, she suggested, should demand a full investigation of London’s criminal role in supporting the violent Jacobin mobs who are trying to destroy Hong Kong and China.

In contrast, Zepp-LaRouche spoke of the Schiller Institute conference in New York on Oct. 5, as part of the International Observe the Moon celebrations, in which she and other speakers spoke of the New Paradigm emerging, with the theme “Mankind as a Galactic Species: The Necessary Alternative to War.”  She called on viewers to catch the “healthy disease, Moon fever.” “Don’t sit on the fence,” she said, the optimism needed to win comes from moving into the “New Frontiers of Knowledge.” Speakers included a Andrea Jones, International Director of NASA’s “International Observe the Moon Night” on Oct. 5; Dr. Xing Jijun, the science counselor from China’s mission in New York; a moving message of support from Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov on the history of U.S.-Russian cooperation in space; Schiller Institute science team members Ben Deniston and Jason Ross; NASA Research Fellow Aaron Olson, who is researching mining helium-3 from the Moon; and Joseph Foster, a signals specialist on “From Project Diana to Project Artemis.” The full conference video is posted on the Schiller Institute website.

Readers of this EIR Daily Alert should not pass up watching the delightful “Jonathan Swiftian” intervention by a LaRouchePAC representative at a town hall meeting of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the dim-witted leading “Green New Deal” proponent in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has had literally millions of viewers around the world. Acting precisely like a wild-eyed eco-fascist, the LaRouchePAC woman said stopping hydrocarbons was not enough, that there were simply too many people, even bombing Russia would not be sufficient because everybody is emitting CO2—so we must eat babies to stop climate disaster! The response of AOC is priceless.

U.S. POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC

LaRouchePAC Swiftian Satire Enrages LaRouche’s Enemies, Delights Anti-Malthusians

Oct. 4 (EIRNS)—LaRouchePAC’s intervention at the town hall of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) last night in Queens garnered immediate responses in the Twittersphere, other social media, YouTube, blogs, and from the mainstream media, including the Washington Post, and Newsweek, that are longtime enemies of Lyndon LaRouche. By early this morning, the C-Span video of the event recorded 5 million views. Many people heartily enjoyed the satire, as from this North Carolina radio station which responded, “Best. Troll. Job. Ever: EAT THE BABIES,” and then asked, “I’m sure AOC knew this was a troll job, right? I mean, I’m sure she recognized the work of Dr. Jonathan Swift, right? Yep, AOC, definitely a fan of the classics.”

A particularly striking response came from Michael Shellenberger, a leading face of the “eco-modernist” movement, strong opponents of the Malthusian current in environmentalism, who seek to solve environmental issues with technological progress. He has 60,000 Twitter followers. He issued a long series of tweets, leading with, “ ‘I love that you support the Green Deal,’ a woman told @AOC yesterday, but ‘it’s not going to solve the problem fast enough. We have to eat babies!’ You might want to dismiss the prank, but it was a brilliant & wholly-justified way to highlight the dangers of climate extremism.” Shellenberger proceeds to denounce Malthus, and the current incarnation of Malthusianism.

For those who didn’t figure it out, LaRouchePAC tweeted, “It was us. Malthusianism isn’t new. Jonathan Swift knew that. Sometimes only satire works”; and, “LaRouchePAC trolls AOC, AOC doesn’t rule out eating babies.” Responses are too numerous to mention here, but a few highlights are worth mentioning:

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson ran a clip of the intervention, which he seemed to enjoy, and then asked, “If someone said to you, ‘we need to eat babies,’ wouldn’t your first response be, ‘what? No! Of course not!’ That’s the one thing [Ocasio-Cortez] didn’t say. Pretty revealing.”

Newsweek, interestingly, while retailing the usual slanders about “conspiracy theorist” Lyndon LaRouche, felt compelled to mention that LaRouchePAC “advocates for economic recovery, a return to former Secretary of State Alexander Hamilton and the implementation of LaRouche’s four economic laws.” Those include, it goes on, “restoring the Glass-Steagall Act, establishing a new national bank, increasing productivity as the metric for credit applications, and creating a crash program for fusion power development and space.” It concludes that LaRouchePAC has “thrown its support behind Trump, criticizing special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.”

As one might expect, the Washington Post, depicted the intervention as a “carefully planned” event by the “right-wing political fringe group” to embarrass AOC. Retailing every known slander of LaRouche, the Post states that while the group is “tiny,” its members “have still managed to make waves in U.S. politics.” Yegads!

AOC’s Soylent Green Deal

Is it true that AOC had Greta Thunberg over for dinner?

This woman deserves an Emmy for the best comedic performance on television.

Looks like the Green New Deal just became the Green New Meal

Well, THAT’S a modest proposal if I ever heard one. If you want your activism to be…er…Swift…

Troll level: LEGENDARY. Seriously she should get an award

I can’t stop watching this—it’s the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. Only one person in the crowd is laughing

I’ll start with a savory baby’s back ribs… Hhhmmmm??

This made me so happy today.

This woman needs to win an Oscar, best performance of 2019. She had me at first and I thought she was legit till she said “got to start to eat the babies!”

I love how she has perfected the lefty monotone hysteric diatribe! This girl did an even better troll than Jonathan Swift’s original “A modest proposal” Even if AOC had acted horrified all she would have proven was that she was uneducated. So win-win troll. Amazing girl!

Thank god for this brave lady. She embodies the entire current left in a nutshell

Trump Charges Britain, Australia, Italy and Obama Administration with Investigating His Campaign

Oct. 5 (EIRNS)—Speaking Oct. 4 at the White House, before departing for Maryland events, President Donald Trump was bombarded with questions about his wanting an investigation of the Bidens in Ukraine. He repeatedly stressed that the issue involve investigating corruption, not playing politics. At one point, he parried a question about “investigations” from NBC reporter Kelly O’Donnell, to state emphatically: “Just so you know, I was investigated. Okay? Me, me. In my campaign.” He said. “I ran. I won. I was investigated—you won’t say that, will you? I was investigated. I was investigated, and they think it could’ve been by U.K., they think it could’ve been by Australia, they think it could’ve been by Italy. So when you get down to it, I was investigated.”

When O’Donnell then interposed the question, “So did you discuss it [being investigated] with the United Kingdom, sir?” Trump continued, “—by the Obama Administration.”

O’Donnell again asked, “Did you discuss it?” Trump replied, “—by the Obama Administration, I was investigated.”

STRATEGIC WAR DANGER

‘Extermination Rebellion’ Planning Two Weeks of Actions in Cities Around the World

Oct. 5 (EIRNS)—Extinction Rebellion climate fanatics are planning to bring disruption to 60 cities around the world as of Monday, Oct. 7, for a fortnight of civil disobedience, warning of an environmental “apocalypse.”

“To governments of the world: We declared a climate and ecological emergency. You did not do enough. To everybody else: Rebel,” XR said on its website ahead of its International Rebellion wave of activism. “This isn’t a distant apocalypse. People all over the world are suffering and dying right now…. Next, it will happen to you, and everybody you love, too.”

XR fanatics want the government to declare a climate and ecological emergency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2025, halt biodiversity loss, and be led by new “citizens assemblies” on climate and ecological justice.

In London, XR hopes to get 20-30,000 people into the streets to shut down the area around Parliament and the government ministries for two weeks from Monday, according to spokesman Robin Boardman.

Boardman said the protests could be five times bigger than those in April, when demonstrators took to the streets for 11 days, sitting down to blockade roads, bridges and intersections. Police made more than 1,100 arrests.

XR’s Joel Scott-Halkes said: “We’re going to blockade and shut down every single road going into the central area of Westminster around the U.K. government. We are going to very loudly, very clearly, very respectfully say that if a government is taking its people towards extinction, it is not a government anymore that we respect.”

A sit-in is also planned at London City Airport. Ahead of Monday’s demonstrations, XR used an old fire engine on Oct. 2 to spray 1,800 liters of fake blood over the front of Britain’s Finance Ministry in a protest over investment in fossil fuel exploration with the slogan: “Stop financing climate death!”

Various events are set to take place until Oct. 12 on topics such as the ocean, plastic waste, and migration linked to climate change. Traffic standstills and building occupations are planned—although in some cities with heavy traffic, they may not even be noticed.

U.S.-Backed Syrian Democratic Forces Pledges ‘All Out War’ if Turkey Invades Northeast

Oct. 6 (EIRNS)—The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF—the U.S.-backed force fighting ISIS, made up primarily of Syrian Kurds) is vowing to unleash “all-out war” should Turkey follow through on President Erdogan’s threats, most recently made yesterday, to invade northeast Syria. In a statement released on Oct. 5, reports Al Masdar, the SDF warned that they will “not hesitate to turn any unprovoked [Turkish] attack into an all-out war.”

The Kurdish self-rule administration also warned that any new Turkish attack would destabilize the region and help the Islamic State. Such an attack, it said, would “serve terror and be a real opportunity for ISIS to reorganize itself and thus take control of large areas of Syria,” and would also provide an opportunity for the thousands of Islamic State detainees and their families held by the SDF in camps and prisons “to flee, which would pose a threat to the region and the world.”

As for the merger of the Turkish-backed anti-Damascus militias National Army and National Liberation Front, Al Masdar says that similar to the Euphrates Shield operation in Afrin, the upcoming Turkish military operation will be led by Syrian militant groups loyal to Ankara.

ECONOMY

Large Insurers Are Still Involved in Derivatives, Warns ‘Wall Street on Parade’

Oct. 4 (EIRNS)—Pam and Russ Martens, who run the “Wall Street on Parade” website and are pro-Glass-Steagall, warn about the state of big insurance companies, which have never stopped investing in derivatives despite the 2008 meltdown, and the bailout of AIG because of that. In the last two days, the Dow Jones has dropped 838 points, but big banks and insurers have dropped more dramatically. That is because big insurers are counterparts to big banks in derivative trades, they write.

“We know which insurance companies are making risky derivative gambles with the mega banks because the 2017 Financial Stability Report from the Office of Financial Research, the Federal agency created under the 2010 Dodd-Frank reform legislation, named them. Those U.S. insurers are: Ameriprise Financial, Hartford Financial Services Group, Lincoln National Corp., Prudential Financial, Voya Financial, MetLife and—as a commentary on the failure of Dodd-Frank—AIG is still in the game.

“Over the past two trading days this is how those seven insurers have fared: Lincoln National Corp. has lost a whopping 8.4%; Ameriprise Financial has given up 8.24%; MetLife fell 6.5%; Voya Financial has lost 6.3%; Prudential Financial was down 6%; while Hartford Financial Services Group and AIG fell a more modest 4%.”

THE NEW GLOBAL ECONOMIC ORDER

Putin Admonishes Iran and Saudi Arabia, Syria Is Not Arena for Your Confrontations

Oct. 4 (EIRNS)—Responding to a question yesterday during the plenary of the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi, President Vladimir Putin called on Iran and Saudi Arabia to refrain from using Syria’s territory as an arena for confrontation, reported TASS.

President Putin said: “The confrontation between the region’s biggest and most influential countries cannot but have an effect on the entire situation in that part of the globe, including on the situation in Syria. I know that the leadership of Saudi Arabia, where I plan to pay a visit soon, and the Iranian leadership—and we remain in contact with Iranian colleagues, I have seen the Iranian President recently—they want peace and prosperity for the Syrian people. And we call on them to be guided by these noble motives, to do their best not to use Syria’s territory as an arena for confrontation.”

He continued: “And I hope very much that when and if our partners realize that and act this way, they will see that besides confrontation, there is a possibility for cooperation in the interests of reaching a common goal. But I think there are other motives to change the situation between Saudi Arabia and Iran and to move from confrontation to cooperation. Because in any case, both countries often face common threats of radicalism and separatism that are, as a matter of fact, terrorism. And they have common goals of development,” Putin stressed.

The President’s complete keynote and much of the subsequent open discussion are translated on the Kremlin’s website.

Duterte at Valdai Discussion Club Promotes Shared Destiny, Interest of Others

Oct. 4 (EIRNS)—Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte spoke at the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi sharing the stage with President Vladimir Putin, King of Jordan Abdullah II, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. His speech conveyed a sense of the scope of the global crisis, and a call for nations collaborating for peace, while also blasting the “weaponization of human rights.”

He said that the era of “Pax Americana” was coming to an end, due to the U.S. adoption of “exceptionalism” and “double standards.” He said he was not against the U.S.—that the two nations were “close friends” and the Philippine people shared “deep ties to the American people.” But, he went on, our “so-called friends say they know the answers to our problems, and create rules and norms for everyone … oblivious to the damaging circumstances imposed on the people they seek to protect.” Clearly referring to the Obama/Blair doctrine R2P (Responsibility to Protect), he pointed to the “chaos and instability in Libya and Iraq” after the regime change wars in those nations.

He particularly pointed to UN Convention for the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the Paris Climate Agreement, and the Convention on the Rights of Children as representing the “weaponization of human rights,” and said that this was being used against his country in opposition to his war on drugs. He said that all countries, large and small, must enjoy state sovereignty, non-interference and peaceful resolution of disputes.

He said he was promoting closer cooperation between his country and the nations of South America, Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East (“with wider eyes than oil and Overseas Filipino Workers”). “The Philippine people need to be enriched by other cultures and intellectual traditions,” he said, in order for Filipinos to “embrace our shared destiny.” At a time of great flux in the world, he said, “we must expand our notion of ourselves to include others.”

With that concept encompassing the Peace of Westphalia, he closed by calling for “peace for all mankind.”

United Kingdom Deploys £220 Million for New, Spherical Tokamak Fusion Project

Oct. 4 (EIRNS)—The British government announced a “Big Step to Fusion Electricity,” Oct. 3, with £220 million commitment to the “conceptual design of a fusion power station—the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP). Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Andrea Leadsom MP, announced the funding package during a visit to the U.K. Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) Culham Science Centre HQ in Oxfordshire, described as “the U.K.’s world-leading fusion research laboratory” in a government release.

“STEP will be an innovative plan for a commercially-viable fusion power station—offering the realistic prospect of constructing a powerplant by 2040,” the release states. “UKAEA and partners from industry and academia will pool their expertise to complete the design by 2024…. STEP builds on UKAEA’s expertise in developing so-called spherical tokamaks—compact and efficient fusion devices that could offer an economical route to commercial fusion power.

Leadsom told the press: “This is a bold and ambitious investment in the energy technology of the future. Nuclear fusion has the potential to be an unlimited clean, safe and carbon-free energy source and we want the first commercially viable machine to be in the U.K.”

EIR reported last month that the UKAEA has created a £22 million site for “working with industrial partners to put the U.K. in a strong position to commercialize nuclear fusion,” to “develop and test joining technologies for fusion materials and components—for example novel metals and ceramics.”

Mozambique Natural Gas Project Gets $5 Billion in Backing from U.S. Exim Bank

Oct. 4 (EIRNS)—In a diversion from the Bush/Obama “no infrastructure overseas” policy since the 1980s, the U.S. Export and Import Bank (Exim) has approved a $5 billion loan for the Rovuma liquefied natural gas plant in northern Mozambique. The money will be spent on U.S. goods and services, which the bank said would directly support 16,400 American jobs over the project’s five-year construction period and generate more than $600 million in interest payments for U.S. taxpayers. Kimberly Reed, the president of Exim, said in a press statement: “Because of President Trump’s leadership, Exim was fully restored in May, and our board was able to vote today—following a robust evaluation process to ensure taxpayer protection—to make this deal possible for American workers,” Reed said, Global Construction Review reported. She said that the U.S. had beaten China and Russia to win the loan.

In announcing the Exim Bank loan for the project, Reed said the project will be “transformative for the people of Mozambique. It is currently forecast that the life of project will have a net benefit of more than $60 billion, which is more than four times the current gross domestic product of Mozambique. In addition, the project is obligated to provide domestic gas, which will support the expansion of electric generation capacity and the development of other industries in the country,” Riviera reported.

SCIENCE AND INFRASTRUCTURE

More Countries See Nuclear Energy, Small Reactors as Option for Secure Energy Future

Oct. 4 (EIRNS)—World Nuclear News documents in its Oct. 3 edition that several countries, including the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, see nuclear energy—especially small modular reactors, or SMRs—as a safe way to guarantee their energy security, as well as satisfying “clean” requirements against carbon dioxide. For example:

Uzbekistan is preparing to build its first nuclear power plant. Speaking to foreign journalists in Tashkent on Sept. 20-21, Energy Minister Alisher Sultanov reported that a specially-appointed task force had debated the issue for 18 months and reached a decision to move forward. “We know this is a sensitive matter, but globally most power sector professionals understand that nuclear is green energy,” he said.

In Estonia, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy and Fermi Energia will collaborate on potential deployment applications for GEH’s BWRX-300 small modular reactor. Their memorandum indicates they will examine economic feasibility of building a BWRX-300 in Estonia. Fermi Energia launched a feasibility study in July on the suitability of SMRs for Estonia’s electricity energy supply and climate goals beyond 2030.

A Puerto Rican-led non-profit organization is about to begin a feasibility study of SMRs and micro-reactors, following support from the Department of Energy. The Nuclear Alternative Project (NAP) founded in 2016 by Puerto Rican engineers in the U.S. nuclear industry to inform and advocate for SMRs and micro-reactors on the island, proposed the study to the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy, to evaluate economic, safety and social impact of deploying SMRs for the island. NAP will officially begin a feasibility study on Oct. 8 and sees SMRs as a way to “transform the island’s energy infrastructure,” it said in a statement.

Russia To Assist Cuba in Developing Nuclear, Other Energy Sources

Oct. 4 (EIRNS)—During a two-day visit to Cuba Oct. 3-4, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced that his government and Russian firms will be assisting Cuba in developing new energy sources, including nuclear energy, to address fuel shortages caused by U.S. sanctions as well as by the 60-year-old U.S. trade embargo, RT reported.

Speaking at the University of Havana, TASS reported, Medvedev emphasized that both Cuba and Russia have been subjected to sanctions numerous times in their history; yet neither country has changed its domestic or foreign policy as a result. “This is how it will be now, as well,” the Prime Minister said. “Russia does not succumb to outside pressures, just like Cuba.”

As Cuba has suffered a shortage of fuel, since U.S. sanctions on Venezuela led to a cutoff of its oil exports to Cuba, Russian oil and gas exports to Cuba increased fourfold in the first half of this year, RT reports. However, Russian firms want to assist Cuba in developing its own domestic energy sector, including nuclear energy in order to reduce its dependence on imported oil.

First Deputy Chief of the Government Staff Sergey Prikhodko reported that Russia and Cuba are looking at development of nuclear medicine, and nuclear energy uses in agriculture as well. Russia also plans to invest $769 million to overhaul 10 power generation units at three Cuban thermal power plants. Russia’s Inter RAO Export and Cuba’s state electricity company Energoimport have already agreed on the project’s roadmap and are expected to sign the contract next year.

Boris Johnson May Refuse To Step Down, Even in a No-Confidence Vote, To Implement Brexit

Oct. 6 (EIRNS)—London’s Sunday Times headlines today: “Sack Me If You Dare, Boris Johnson Will Tell the Queen.” It goes on: “Boris Johnson will dare the Queen to sack him rather than resign as prime minister in an attempt to drive through Brexit on Oct. 31, cabinet ministers have revealed.”

Johnson’s revised Brexit plan has been panned by the EU, but he plans to continue discussion this week to win approval. But his aides told the Times (they claim), that he was prepared to “squat” in Downing Street, “even if MPs declare no confidence in his government and agree a caretaker prime minister to replace him.”

There is no law demanding Johnson must step down after a no-confidence vote, and since his opponents in the Labour Party and the rebel Tories refuse to vote for a new election (believing they would all lose their seats!), Johnson believes he can just stay on and put through a no-deal Brexit, they report.

The Times adds that “Senior Tories also claimed Johnson would sit tight if he were found in contempt of court for ignoring the Benn Act, a law passed by remainer MPs to prevent no deal, unless he faces jail. One senior figure said: ‘Unless the police turn up at the doors of 10 Downing Street with a warrant for the prime minister’s arrest, he won’t be leaving.’ ”

There is talk among MPs and Peers of putting together a majority in the Commons composed of opposition MPs and rebel Tories to cobble together a new majority government, but Johnson could simply refuse to step down.

Of course, the Queen could fire Johnson—the last time that happened was 1834! She could also dissolve Parliament and call an election herself—but there is little chance Queen ER would take such action on her own.
