May 21 (EIRNS)—As LaRouchePAC documented in the September 2017 investigative report “Robert Mueller Is an Amoral Legal Assassin,” the entire Mueller witchhunt was set up and executed by British intelligence, willing to induce their assets in the Obama intelligence community to commit treason, to work with a foreign intelligence agency to impose regime-change on their former colony. According to the operative British intelligence officials—Christopher Steele and Sir Richard Dearlove of MI6, and former GCHQ director Robert Hannigan, among others—the crime of Donald Trump was to pursue friendly relations with Russia and China, and to threaten to restore the American System economic policies, to save the U.S. from British “free market” speculative destruction.
None of Trump’s intentions have been realized as yet, in large part due to the Russiagate operation. On Sunday, Trump announced his intention to demand that the DOJ open an investigation into “whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for political purposes,” and whether or not the Obama Administration was part of it. Within hours, Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein tasked the DOJ Inspector General to do precisely that, stating that if it is shown to be true, they would “take appropriate action.”
At the center of this is the desperate effort by the DOJ and the FBI to hide the identity of one Stefan Halper as the source whose exposure would somehow cause a disaster to Western Civilization. In fact, however, his name was not hard to discover and has been widely reported in the press. Halper is an American who has longstanding ties to the Bush family and the Pentagon’s China-bashing Office of Net Assessment, who is now teaching at Cambridge University, where he is close to former MI6 chief Richard Dearlove. It is Halper, a longstanding CIA and FBI informant, who initiated contact with minor players in the Trump Campaign, planting lies about Russian hacking of the DNC emails, aiming to facilitate the dodgy Christopher Steele dossier lies about Trump collusion with Russia in order to steal the election.
The criminals in the Obama intelligence team are squirming. Obama’s CIA chief John Brennan sent a message to Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan demanding that they act to stop Trump’s “self-serving actions” or “bear major responsibility for the harm done to our democracy.” Trump re-tweeted a message from a former Secret Service officer that “John Brennan is panicking. He has disgraced himself, disgraced the country, he has disgraced the intelligence community. He is the one man who is largely responsible for the destruction of Americans’ faith in the intelligence community…, he’s worried about staying out of jail.”
But the British role can no longer be concealed. The same is true for the pending financial crash, which also is too hard to hide these days. Bloomberg headlined today: “Corporate Bonds Sink Fast in One of Worst Tumbles Since 2000.” At the same time, the currency crisis, brought on in part by the U.S. finally raising interest rates, is rapidly turning into a debt crisis in developing sector nations around the world. Capital flight is driving down currencies in many of these developing countries, while their debts, contracted in dollars, are coming due, even while interest rates for those debts are rising. In a classic case of what EIR has long called “bankers’ arithmetic,” entire nations are suddenly watching their debts skyrocket, not from borrowing more, but because they have to buy dollars with devalued currencies to pay them back. Bloomberg writes that Brazil and Turkey are “the two leaders” in this danger, but wishfully stating that it “still isn’t as extreme as it was in Thailand and Indonesia” before the 1998 Asian debt explosion. Indonesia’s debt tripled overnight when Soros and others broke their banks by speculating against their currency.
The British model of a deregulated speculative “Casino Mondial,” which has replaced American System credit policies, has destroyed the financial system as a whole. As Lyndon LaRouche has demonstrated since the 1980s, the system can not be fixed—it must be replaced, with a Hamiltonian credit system and a restoration of science drivers, pushing ahead at the frontiers of human knowledge. This is the necessary means to both raise the productivity of the workforce, and inspire young minds with optimism, that they can create a better future for themselves and for posterity. This is the purpose of LaRouche’s Four Laws, which can and must replace the bankrupt British financial structure which is falling apart at the seams.
The new paradigm represented by the New Silk Road has, over the past two weeks, brought nearly the entire Asian continent—including China, Japan and Russia—into a level of cooperation not witnessed in modern history. At the same time, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited France, Spain and Portugal, where agreements were reached to work together in joint infrastructure development projects in countries along the New Silk Road.
The world is changing rapidly, but the Empire will not go quietly. The war party is desperate to provoke a war between Israel and Iran, Jew and Arab, Sunni and Shi’a, and any other form of divisiveness between human beings which they can use to their advantage.
Helga Zepp-LaRouche responded to an uplifting report from LaRouchePAC organizers today on the intense response from Americans across the country, young and old, to the message from LaRouche: to stop the coup, implement the Four Laws, and join the New Silk Road. “This war can be won,” she said. “We have come a long way, and there are more battles to be fought, but history will be shaped by the ideas of Lyndon H. LaRouche.”
U.S. POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC
May 21 (EIRNS)—President Trump on Sunday finished off a string of nine tweets tearing into the fraud of “witchhunt” against him, with the announcement, “I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes—and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!”
Within hours, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced that the Justice Department Inspector General (IG) had just been tasked with investigating whether the FBI surveilled President Trump’s campaign for “inappropriate purposes,” promising to “take appropriate action” if that had occurred. Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores issued a contorted statement attempting to preserve the lie that Russians had interfered in the presidential election, while specifying that the investigation into “impropriety or political motivation in how the FBI conducted its counterintelligence investigation of persons suspected of involvement with the Russian agents who interfered in the 2016 presidential election” will be now be included in the IG’s ongoing “review” of the legality of the FBI/DOJ Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court application to open surveillance of the Trump campaign, who will refer “any potential criminal activity” to a U.S. Attorney.
In other words, the higher-ups who deployed Stefan Halper, a longtime CIA operative with extensive ties to George H.W. Bush and British foreign intelligence MI6, to run a typical FBI sting operation to set up the Trump campaign for the charge of “working with Russians,” could soon face criminal charges.
No wonder Obama’s CIA Director John Brennan went ballistic. Brennan retweeted Trump’s tweet on ordering an investigation, accompanied by a threat to the Republican leadership to shut down any such investigation, “or else.” Brennan wrote: “Senator McConnell & Speaker Ryan: If Mr. Trump continues along this disastrous path, you will bear major responsibility for the harm done to our democracy. You do a great disservice to our Nation & the Republican Party if you continue to enable Mr. Trump’s self-serving actions.”
President Trump took note of Brennan’s hysteria today, retweeting a tweet from conservative commentator Dan Bongino on how “John Brennan is panicking…. This was a Political hit job, this was not an Intelligence Investigation…. He’s worried about staying out of Jail.”
May 21 (EIRNS)—Bernard Lewis, the longstanding head of the British Arab Bureau who was the actual mastermind of Zbigniew Brzezinki’s “Arc of Crisis” and Samuel Huntington’s “Clash of Civilizations” strategies which have wreaked such destruction upon humanity, has finally descended officially into Hell, at the age of 101.
The record of Lyndon LaRouche’s unrelenting fight for decades against the “pure evil” of Lewis and what he represented, can be found on LaRouche’s Executive Intelligence Review website. LaRouche succinctly summarized the imperial strategic intent driving “the Bernard Lewis plan” of war on Islam, “regime- change” and “color revolutions” against Arab and Islamic states, at the Feb. 15, 2003, Schiller Institute and International Caucus of Labor Committees conference: It “is aimed at all of humanity, but it is aimed at Islam, both because of the crossroads between the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean, and because 1.3 billion Muslims—if you put that part of culture into chaos, then you can not have peace in any part of Eurasia, and Eurasia is finished. And, therefore, you can rule the world.”
Ignorance of what Lewis actually represented and propagated is a dangerous strategic blind spot, as reflected in the statement issued by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo today on his passing. Pompeo wrote that “the world lost a true scholar and great man, Bernard Lewis, this past week…. I met him only once, but read much of what he wrote. I owe a great deal of my understanding of the Middle East to his work. Mr. Lewis was a hard-nosed defender of democracies around the world—including in the Middle East. He was also man who believed, as I do, that Americans must be more confident in the greatness of our country, not less.”
May 21 (EIRNS)—Edward Lozansky, president of the American University in Moscow, and Jim Jatras, former U.S. diplomat and former advisor to U.S. Senate leadership, today posted a full-page ad in the Washington Times under the title “President Trump Should Hold Early Summit with Russian President Putin.”
At the top of the page, an amazing photo from the middle of Moscow, which should be seen by every American, shows a pair of full-sized statues in front of the U.S. and the Russian flags. The first is Abraham Lincoln and Alexander II shaking hands, in front of a pillar holding a sailing ship, marking the deployment of Russia’s naval fleet to New York Harbor and San Francisco Harbor during the U.S. Civil War, an open declaration to the British Empire that if they entered the war to save their Confederacy, they would have fight the Russians as well.
The second statue is Ronald Reagan shaking hands with Mikhail Gorbachev. The caption on the picture reads: “On display in downtown Moscow—and symbolizing the historical message from the men with great world’s vision to Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.”
The text of the statement reads:
“For half a century after the Second World War, the fundamental reality of international relations was the Cold War between the United States and the U.S.S.R. Inseparable from that reality was the ever-present realization that should this rivalry ever get out of hand, a nuclear war would likely mean the end of both countries and, possibly, the end of human civilization itself.
“The initiatives to end the first Cold War begun in the era of Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev reflected the desire on both sides to end a useless and dangerous confrontation. This was encapsulated in President Reagan’s famous statement that also reflected his heartfelt conviction: ‘A nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. The only value in our two nations possessing nuclear weapons is to make sure they will never be used.’
“The steps taken by Washington and Moscow at that time were not limited to arms control, important as achievements in that area were to build a mutual sense of security. They also reflected a sincere desire to end the ideological and political natures of the hostile standoff that had raged with varying intensity since at least the 1940s.
“At the time it was widely hoped that with the end of the ideological struggles that had roiled the 20th century, America and Russia could become partners, perhaps even allies. There was strong optimism that the ‘long twilight struggle’ would finally be over and that both countries could concentrate on domestic needs, free from the looming threat of nuclear annihilation.
“Alas, that was not to be. There is no denying that a second Cold War is today a reality.
“In some ways this second Cold War is even more dangerous than the first one. The instincts of restraint and prudence that had been built up over decades of confrontation have atrophied. While both countries still maintain massive nuclear arsenals, new military technology has continued to make rapid progress in such areas as hypersonic weapons and cyber-warfare. Also, while during the first Cold War American and Soviet planners consciously sought to avoid direct contact between their forces in Third World proxy wars, today American and Russian forces come into perilous proximity to one another. The consequences of an unintended mishap are not given the gravity they demand.
“We believe this headlong inertia toward catastrophe can only be broken by the personal intervention of President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin. We therefore urge the two presidents to schedule a summit meeting at the earliest possible date. Further, we plan to post later today on the White House website a petition urging such a summit.”
They wrote that as of Monday evening, the text of the petition and instructions for signing it can be found at www.russiahouse.org/wrf.php.
May 21 (EIRNS)—Secretary of State Mike Pompeo presented the hard-line position in regard to Iran for the Trump Administration at a Heritage Foundation event today. It followed the Trump position throughout his campaign: report the earlier nuclear program in full; end enrichment and plutonium reprocessing, requiring the closure of the heavy water reactor; unrestricted access to inspectors; end “proliferation” of ballistic missiles, and end testing of nuclear-capable missiles; release Western prisoners; end support for “terrorist groups, meaning Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad; no intervention in Iraq; end support for Houthis; withdraw all forces from Syria; end support for the Taliban(!).
None of this is different from Trump’s stated policy. While referencing the “Iranian people” protesting the government, he did not call for regime change (as Sen. Lindsey Graham did on Fox News this evening), but repeatedly said we would talk with the Tehran and would aid them if they met the demands.
Interestingly, Pompeo said: “If anyone, especially the leaders of Iran, doubts the President’s sincerity or his vision, let them look at our diplomacy with North Korea. Our willingness to meet with Kim Jong-un underscores the Trump Administration’s commitment to diplomacy to help solve the greatest challenges, even with our staunchest adversaries. But that willingness has been accompanied by a painful pressure campaign that reflects our commitment to resolve this challenge forever.”
On secondary sanctions against Europe and others, he said American firms had to forgo business deals with Iran, and “everyone is going to have to participate in this.” He said a team would be sent out to convince others to join.
STRATEGIC WAR DANGER
May 21 (EIRNS)—Al Monitor’s “Week in Review” May 20 poses that Russian President Vladimir Putin is organizing a solution in Syria based on withdrawal of foreign forces. Titled “What Did Putin Mean by Withdrawing ‘Foreign Armed Forces’ from Syria?” it says that after the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Russia, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad quickly followed. They report that Vladimir Putin has become the “go-to” mediator between Iran and Israel, as “Moscow’s good offices are, for now, the only diplomatic venue available where both sides can pass messages and expect them to be faithfully delivered.”
The review writes that Assad, in his meeting with Putin, had “finally embraced the need to form a committee tasked with drafting a Syrian Constitution. Assad had opposed the idea, for fear of eventually losing power or being traded off.” Also, they say that Putin, after the meeting, said: “We proceed from the assumption that in view of the significant victories and success achieved by the Syrian army in its fight against terrorism, and the start of a more active phase of the political process, foreign armed forces will be withdrawing from the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.”
They conclude that it is not known whether President Trump will “recognize and seize the prospect of Russian mediation, at a time when Iran is on defense and the Syrian people may be catching a glimmer of hope that this terrible war may actually be winding down.”
With Trump personally committed to pulling U.S. troops out, Putin appears to believe that all foreign entities with troops in Syria could be brought to an agreement to withdraw—U.S., Iranian, Turkish, Lebanese. He is talking to all of them, except the U.S.—another reason that a Trump-Putin Summit is essential.
May 21 (EIRNS)—The Russian Foreign Ministry has provided sufficient information to prove that it is the United Kingdom, not Russia, which tends to conduct dirty operations abroad, Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told the Rossiya 1 broadcaster on May 20. “From the very beginning, we said that all three of the arguments put forward by the United Kingdom [about the poisoning of the Skripals in Salisbury] … are groundless. The first one is that Russia has always done that, historically, and that it is in our culture to murder people abroad, carry out such operations. It seems that we have given enough historical material on this subject, moreover, the material proves that the U.K. intelligence services have always been the most involved in such operations, and, moreover, they have always been perfect in attempts—often successful ones—to portray their crimes as someone else’s,” Zakharova said.
Another U.K. argument, according to the spokeswoman, was that the Novichok chemical weapon allegedly used in Salisbury, which from London’s point of view is the same agent as A234, was produced and tested only in Russia. “We … provided information that at least 20 countries of the North Atlantic region were nowadays developing [‘Novichok’-class agents] including Sweden and the Czech Republic. Three to four weeks later, our information was confirmed—what a scandal erupted in Prague, [when it turned out that] the official agencies of the Czech Republic possessed this substance,” Zakharova said. She pointed out that the scandal around development of the Novichok-class chemical in the Czech Republic proved that the United Kingdom and the United States—which immediately supported London—were providing false information on the issue.
“The third argument, on which the U.K. position is based, that these substances were delivered from Russia, was in fact refuted by U.K. labs,” Zakharova said, and stressing that the Russian Foreign Ministry’s goal was to respond to all the false accusations with a point of view based on facts.
THE NEW GLOBAL ECONOMIC ORDER
May 21 (EIRNS)—Speaking during the May 13-15 Atomexpo Forum in Sochi, Russia, Hortensia Jimenez, head of the Bolivian Nuclear Energy Agency (ABEN), discussed President Evo Morales’ conception of nuclear energy as a means to achieve complete economic, scientific, and educational sovereignty.
This is not an issue of simply purchasing technology, Jimenez told El Universal, but “advancing in our own capabilities, educating our young people, and promoting our own specialists’ research.” She also emphasized that the development of science and technology “is not a matter of private investment but of sovereignty and public policy which conceives of the role of science and education as the primary promotors of our nation’s development.”
Jimenez detailed the construction that is underway for three nuclear research centers in Bolivia, one for nuclear medicine, one for food irradiation and agricultural research, and one containing a research reactor. Comparing Bolivia’s progress to that of Russia, Turkey, Egypt and Belarus, Jimenez pointed to an international apparatus which she said is at work surreptitiously to sow fear and suspicion about the safety of nuclear energy. Morales’s conception, she said, is that science is as important “as [national] territory or the economy to be able to discuss sovereignty. Without science and without knowledge, we can never be a truly free nation.”
May 21 (EIRNS)—The Russian floating nuclear power station “Akademik Lomonosov” continues to progress from construction to deployment. On May 19 a ceremony was held in the Barents Sea city of Murmansk to mark the nuclear power station’s having received its first consignment of fuel before heading to eastern Siberia.
Constructed by the state nuclear power firm Rosatom, the 144×30 meter, 21,000-ton barge holds two 35 MW nuclear reactors similar to those used to power icebreaker ships. It will be towed in the summer of 2019 from St. Petersburg to the port of Pevek in the autonomous Chukotka region in Russia’s extreme northeast, 350 km north of the Arctic Circle. The barge can produce enough electricity to power a town of 200,000 residents, far more than the 5,000 who live in Pevek, Russia’s northernmost town.
