In addition to the economic benefits of the REINS Act, there is one more important aspect of it you should know about – it restores the constitutional balance between the executive and Congress.
For too long now, laws haven’t been made by Congress. They’ve been made via executive order or regulation. Thousands of new regulations are created every year, and nothing is done to stop them.
The REINS Act changes all that by FORCING votes in Congress, without an possibility of filibusters, on any new major rule or executive action.
Congress will return to making the laws if REINS passes.
With Senate Committee passage and the House already having acted, we are only one step away from my bill becoming law.
President Trump has promised to sign it — in fact he campaigned on it.
Now we have to get it to his desk, past some weak kneed Republicans and a potential Democrat filibuster.
