This page lists the U.S. House races where only one major party is on the ballot. 37 districts will meet that criteria this year. That is virtually unchanged from the 35 districts on the uncontested list in 2022.

Totally Unopposed

This list includes seats where the incumbent party has the ballot all to themselves. The only opposition would be via write-in, where that is allowed. There are 25 such districts this year, split 13-12 between Republicans and Democrats.

No Major Party Opposition

These five elections have certified third party or independent opponents to the major party candidate on the ballot.

It is rare that any district on this page includes the party not currently holding the seat, but that is the situation in NC-06. Mid-cycle redistricting shifted this to a safely GOP district. Incumbent Democrat Kathy Manning is retiring and no Democrats stepped up to contest the seat. Republican Addison McDowell will face the Libertarian Party nominee.

Same Party Opposition

California and Washington hold primaries where all candidates, regardless of party, appear on a single ballot. The two highest finishers go on to the general election. If the two advancing candidates are from the same party, the district is listed in this section. There are six such districts in 2024.

Louisiana has a similar primary structure, except it takes place concurrently with the general election. If a candidate gets a majority, they are elected. Otherwise, there is a runoff. In LA-04, the ballot is comprised of two Republicans. As one must get a majority, it is effectively the same as the other listed seats.
