Lindsay Lohan’s politics are as red as her hair.
The “Mean Girls” actress took her patriotic duty seriously on the Fourth of July and declared her support for President Trump on Twitter as she called for people to quit bullying him.
“THIS IS our president,” she wrote in response to a Breitbart article about Trump vowing to help critically ill British baby Charlie Gard, who was denied medical help by the European Court of Human Rights. “Stop #bullying him & start trusting him. Thank you personally for supporting #THEUSA.”
The tweet Lohan responded to was posted in defense of Trump after the chaos that ensued on social media after he posted an edited video last week that featured him tackling and wrestling with a CNN logo.
The 31-year-old actress – who has recently embraced her humanitarian side in working with Syrian refugees – also praised members of the extended Trump family, calling Donald, Ivanka, Melania and Donald Jr. “kind people.”
“As an American, why speak poorly of anyone?” she wrote.
Lohan’s advice to the Twitterverse certainly carries an ironic air for those who recall a disturbing 2004 interview Trump gave to Howard Stern about a then-18-year-old Lohan.
“She’s probably deeply troubled and therefore great in bed,” the then-“Apprentice” host said at the time. “How come the deeply troubled women, you know, deeply, deeply troubled, they’re always the best in bed?”
The former child star has previously spoken out in favor of Trump, and in February, defended him while urging the public to stop fighting his every move.
“I think always in the public eye you’re going to be scrutinized,” she told the Daily Mail. “And he is the president so you have no – you have to join him. If you can’t beat him, join him.”
Additionally, in January, after an Australian radio host replayed Trump’s 2004 comments for Lohan, she replied, “I wish him the best. We live in a world of societies that consistently find fault in people. I think it’s a really scary factor. Taking someone else down is never the answer, and I think we all know that.”
Curiously enough, Lohan also appeared to praise Russian leader Vladmir Putin on Twitter, writing “#TheMan” in response to an article from a United Arab Emirates news source about Putin attempting to strengthen ties with China.
