Dear Friend,

Attending a military academy is a real honor and a great opportunity for students to serve our country and obtain a post-secondary education. The students who receive an appointment to these academies are awarded a $400,000 scholarship.

I would like to invite you all to join me, Senator Bill Cassidy, and Congressman Charles Boustany this upcoming Saturday, September 24, for Service Academy Day during which we can learn more about the academies. If you don’t have high-school aged kids, feel free to pass this information along to your friends and neighbors.

We’ll conduct the Academy Day this Saturday, September 24 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the LITE Center in Lafayette. We have invited representatives from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Merchant Marine, and Coast Guard Academies who will be able to explain the nomination process and the requirements for applying to each.

Academy Day is free and open to the public. All high school students and their parents are welcome to attend and are encouraged to RSVP toDana_Brignac@vitter.senate.gov. Students who are unable attend can contact my Lafayette office at (337) 993-9502 for more information on the application process.
