Stanley Zhong, now 19, reportedly earned a 4.42 GPA and a near perfect SAT score at Gunn High School, yet was turned away by numerous universities. Google reportedly hired him as a software engineer, a role his family’s court filing says typically requires a Ph.D. or equivalent experience, after scouting him in coding competitions at age 13. According to court documents cited by Fox News, a federal judge has denied part of the University of Washington’s motion to dismiss the Zhong family’s lawsuit, allowing the case to proceed. The family, along with a group called Students Who Oppose Racial Discrimination, alleges that Asian American applicants reportedly face systemic barriers in college admissions despite strong academic records. University officials have previously stated their admissions policies comply with state and federal law. The case is reportedly expected to continue in court.
