The Conspirators’ Time Has Come

Nov. 5 (EIRNS)—Every aspect of the conspiracy to remove Donald Trump from office is now spilling out into the public domain despite the fact that the U.S. mainstream media has proven itself to be an extension of the corrupt elements of the trans-Atlantic intelligence community at the center of the attempted coup.

At the center of the fake charge of “Russian Collusion” was the lie that Russia hacked the Democratic National Committee computers, handing the material over to Julian Assange to publish on his WikiLeaks site, thus “interfering” in the election. Assange alone can definitively refute this lie—and now the British are trying to kill him. It is so blatant that even the UN Rapporteur for Torture has accused the Brits of attempted murder.

The same forces who failed to unseat Trump through the Russiagate caper are now running an even more outrageous impeachment operation. But it is a “flight forward,” a panicked response to the fact that Trump’s Attorney General Barr and his chosen prosecutor U.S. Attorney Durham are now fully engaged in a criminal investigation to the entire filthy nest of British and American intelligence operatives, together with the degenerate Democratic Party, who ran this attempted coup.

Trump is energized, holding numerous mass rallies across the country, identifying the absolute insanity of this crowd in the Congress, and the press whores who back them (or is it the other way around?). In Kentucky Monday night, he said that the outrageous conduct of the Democrats has “created an angry majority” who can and must be mobilized to throw them out the Congress.

One of the ironies of this historic crisis in the United States is that the Donald Trump is acting as a world historic figure—he has described himself as an “island of one.” He is carrying out his pledge to end the endless wars, and to attempt, however slowly, to bring the U.S. into a relation of friendship with both Russia and China, standing up against both political parties and the press who demand more war and confrontation with Russia and China. And yet a growing portion of the American people are seeing through the fog and the lies.

The danger remains that the massive debt bubble is beginning to rupture. The Federal Reserve began pumping billions of dollars daily into the banking system in the middle of September, and increasing the flow weekly, as the pace of collapse of the hedge funds threatens to be the spark to bring down the entire system. In Europe, the head of Hungary’s central bank, Gyorgy Matolcsy, exposed the Emperor’s New Clothes by cutting through all the finger pointing as to which country is to blame for the collapsing economies across the EU: It is “the ill-advised decision to create the common currency,” Matolcsy said. I.e., “It’s the system, stupid.”

The solution is not unknown, provided one is willing to acknowledge that there is no way to fix the massively bankrupt system. Bankruptcy reform under Glass-Steagall—point number one in LaRouche’s Four Laws—is both necessary to prevent a general breakdown crisis, and to create the credit required to: fulfill Trump’s commitment to rebuilding the nation’s industrial infrastructure; take the nation and the world back to the Moon and on to Mars; and to facilitate international cooperation in the New Silk Road, to end to scourge of poverty and backwardness left over from the dog-eat-dog world of the world’s colonial past.

LaRouche PAC Issues Statement Concerning the Attempt To Kill Julian Assange

Nov. 5 (EIRNS)—The following statement was issued for immediate circulation by the LaRouche Political Action Committee today:

Killing the witness to a crime is the ultimate obstruction of justice, and now, just that is being perpetrated on British soil in collaboration with U.S. officials. There is one person alive in possession of the means to quickly put the lie to the entire Russiagate hoax perpetrated primarily by British intelligence and the British-infiltrated and -controlled elements of the U.S. intelligence community. That is Julian Assange. Assange was the recipient of the leaked DNC and John Podesta files which John Brennan and friends claim were hacked by the Russians and turned over to WikiLeaks in a scheme to interfere in the 2016 U.S. elections in favor of Donald Trump. The Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) demonstrated forensically that the DNC files were leaked, not hacked over the internet by the Russians, as claimed by Robert Mueller. (See VIPS March 13, 2019 Memorandum to the Attorney General: “VIPS: Mueller’s Forensics-Free Findings,” in Consortium News.)

Julian Assange has repeatedly said that he received leaked files and these files did not involve Russian state actors. He offered to provide his evidence to Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and Rohrabacher shared this offer with President Donald Trump along with Assange’s denial of a Russian source for his documents. The documents detailed Hillary Clinton’s subservience to Wall Street, all sorts of bad deeds by the Clinton Foundation, and the rigging of the 2016 Democratic primaries by the DNC against Bernie Sanders. Their truth has never been contested. Assange also offered to provide his evidence to the U.S. Justice Department and negotiations were actively underway when the Senate Intelligence Committee apparatchik Mark Warner [D-VA], blew them up. Assange is presently being held in London’s Belmarsh Prison, Her Majesty’s hole for the most dangerous criminals in Britain. He is being held on a U.S. indictment for conspiring with Chelsea Manning concerning her release of embarrassing U.S. military documents from 2010. The indictment had been in the works since 2017, right after the Assange-Rohrabacher conversations, and was put before a U.S. Grand Jury right after legal hitman Robert Mueller concluded his fabricated campaign against the American President in April 2019. When the indictment was unsealed, Assange was dragged out of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London where he had been granted asylum and hauled off to Belmarsh, awaiting extradition to the United States. Nils Melzer, the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, warned on Nov. 1 in a statement regarding the condition of Assange: “Unless the U.K. urgently changes course and alleviates his inhumane situation, Mr. Assange’s continued exposure to arbitrariness and abuse may soon end up costing his life.”

Melzer had met Assange on May 9, after which he demanded immediate measures to protect Assange’s health and dignity. “Despite the medical urgency of my appeal, and the seriousness of the alleged violations, the U.K. has not undertaken any measures of investigation, prevention and redress required under international law,” Melzer charged. Assange “continues to be detained under oppressive conditions of isolation and surveillance, not justified by his detention status,” he said. Melzer also attacked the U.S. role: “While the U.S. Government prosecutes Mr. Assange for publishing information about serious human rights violations, including torture and murder, the officials responsible for these crimes continue to enjoy impunity.” And, “despite the complexity of the proceedings against him led by the world’s most powerful Government, Mr. Assange’s access to legal counsel and documents has been severely obstructed.” This, he said, had effectively undermined “his most fundamental right to prepare his defense.”

This call from the UN Rapporteur places the responsibility on all UN states to take action to stop this political atrocity. The people who put this into operation should be fired or prosecuted as part of U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation. This is a real test as to whether the U.S. Justice Department can assume any degree of honor.

Former British Ambassador Craig Murray attended the court appearance of Assange on Oct. 21 for an extradition hearing. Murray wrote in his blog: “Before I get on to the blatant lack of fair process, the first thing I must note was Julian’s condition. I was badly shocked by just how much weight my friend has lost, by the speed his hair has receded and by the appearance of premature and vastly accelerated aging. He has a pronounced limp I have never seen before. Since his arrest he has lost over 15 kg in weight. But his physical appearance was not as shocking as his mental deterioration. When asked to give his name and date of birth, he struggled visibly over several seconds to recall both.” The hearing, Murray said, had convinced him of UN Rapporteur Melzer’s earlier warning that Assange was being tortured. (See Murray’s account of the hearing, “Assange in Court,” which he asked be widely circulated.)

We call on all citizens of all nations to join the international campaign conducted by many organizations to bring the truth about this horrible intelligence crime into the sunlight, and to save Assange’s life.

President Trump in Kentucky Rallies ‘Angry Majority’ against Crazy Democrats, Vote for Gov. Matt Bevin

Nov. 5 (EIRNS)—In a rally held last night in Lexington, Kentucky in support of incumbent Gov. Matt Bevin, President Donald Trump thoroughly enjoyed himself in repeatedly skewering the “crazy” and “lunatic” Democrats. Their “outrageous behavior” in promoting a phony impeachment drive has succeeded only in one thing, he said, “creating an angry majority. The American people are fed up with the Democrats’ lies.” The supporters standing behind him, sporting “Read the Transcript” shirts, heartily agreed.

The President jokingly referred to Governor Bevin as a “pain in the ass,” by which he meant that Bevin so frequently called him to request support for what he was doing for the people of Kentucky. He deserves “your support,” the President said, and people should get out to “vote the Democrats the hell out of office.”

With great relish, Trump repeatedly characterizing the Democrats as “crazy.” One example of this, he said, was Hillary Clinton’s claim that Democratic Presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard and Green Party leader and Presidential candidate Jill Stein were Russian assets. “These lunatics,” he said, have launched a conspiracy to “thwart our will and American democracy by any means necessary.” The “deranged, hyper-partisan impeachment witch hunt” launched by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is an attempt “to annul the votes of 62 million people,” he underscored. This was planned, he added, even before he stepped foot in the White House.

The President greatly enjoyed ridiculing the media, whose representatives were sitting in a special section of the Rubbs Arena, pointing to their obscene relationship with the Democrats, and particularly singling out “the disgusting Washington Post.” Dangling the possibility that he might not “hang it up” in just five years, but perhaps “9 years, or 13 years, or maybe 17 years, or maybe, if I still have the strength, 21 years,” he pronounced, “See, now they’re going crazy. Now they’re saying, see I told you he was a dictator!”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) attended the rally, and came to the podium to praise Trump’s “great courage” in facing down “the fake media every day.” The name of the whistleblower is known, he said, so he needs to be subpoenaed to go before Congress as a material witness “because he worked with Joe Biden at the same time Hunter Biden was getting money from corrupt oligarchs. I say tonight to the media, ‘do your job and print his name!’ and I say to my fellow colleagues in Congress, to every Republican in Washington, ‘Step up and subpoena Hunter Biden and subpoena the whistleblower!’ ”

STRATEGIC WAR DANGER

Bolivian Armed Forces, Workers and Peasants Mobilized To Prevent a Coup

Nov. 5 (EIRNS)—Bolivia’s armed forces and President Evo Morales’s largely-trade union and peasant base are mobilizing to prevent the coup machinations of the right-wing opposition, led by the Pro-Santa Cruz civic committee, which charges that Morales committed fraud in the Oct. 20 presidential elections. It is deploying groups of thugs around the country to foment violence and shut down economic activity.

On Nov. 2, the Santa Cruz civic committee had called on the armed forces to rebel against Morales and join the opposition, and then on Nov. 4, announced it would “paralyze the state” with “more radical” strikes and violent protests. Last night, however, the armed forces issued a statement calling for an end to the violence which “weakens national institutions and threatens the country’s constitutional order.” The armed forces, it warned, is “committed to maintaining democracy, the unity of the Bolivian people, and the integrity of our national sovereignty.”

At midnight Nov. 4, the head of the Pro-Santa Cruz civic committee Luis Camacho flew to La Paz, proclaiming that since Morales hadn’t resigned by 7:00 p.m. that night, as Camacho had demanded, he would personally hand the President a resignation letter to sign at the government palace. But, after supporters of the ruling MAS party entered the airport, while others demonstrated outside, security forces told Camacho it wasn’t safe for him to leave the airport and put him on a Bolivian Air Force plane back to Santa Cruz. Interior Minister Carlos Romero told reporters this was done for Camacho’s own protection, as his racist actions and polarizing activity had angered many people and his safety couldn’t be guaranteed.

On Nov. 4, Foreign Minister Diego Pary addressed an emergency session at the Organization of American States (OAS), and provided evidence of the coup attempt underway. But true to form, 13 members of the OAS issued a seven-point statement, the first six of which focused on the need to respect the OAS’s auditing of the Bolivian election results, asserting that the Oct. 20 election had violated principles of transparency and impartiality. OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro today demanded that the Morales government ensure Luis Camacho’s “freedom of movement.”

Blame Dope Inc. and British Empire for Killings of Americans in Mexico

Nov. 5 (EIRNS)—The horrific Nov. 4 murder of nine Americans—six children and three adults—by drug cartels in Sonora, Mexico sent shock waves throughout Mexico and the United States. The murder victims belonged to the Lebaron family, members of the La Mora religious community, an offshoot of the Mormons, who have resided in northern Mexico for decades. A convoy of several family members was traveling between the states of Sonora and Chihuahua when it was attacked, killing three women and six children. Another seven children survived the attack. Four of the children were burned alive when their van caught on fire.

There has been much speculation that the Lebarons weren’t the intended victims but were just caught in the crossfire between rival drug gangs. This is unlikely, since the family has a history of confrontation with drug cartels and had armed themselves with sophisticated weapons and organized self-defense units.

Rather, this incident should be seen as a sequel to the one in Culiacan a few weeks ago, which was intended to completely destabilize Mexico, portray President Andrés Manuel López Obrador as incompetent, and drive a wedge between the United States and Mexico. In the Culiacan case, EIR emphasized, and as Lyndon LaRouche had always insisted, the culprit was Dope, Inc. and the British Empire, which can only be defeated internationally, not within Mexico.

Any attempt to portray the situation differently is wrong. In today’s daily press briefing, López Obrador was pressed about the series of tweets that President Donald Trump had issued after the attack, urging Mexico to “wage WAR on the drug cartels,” and reporting that the U.S. “is willing and able to get involved and do the job quickly and effectively.” López Obrador welcomed Trump’s offer of cooperation, but said he rejected the idea of waging war against the cartels, because “we declared war” once under former President Felipe Calderon, “and it didn’t work … it’s a failed strategy.” He described Trump’s offer as “respectful,” but emphasized that Mexico is a sovereign country and that no other country can intervene in Mexico unless there is a cooperation agreement, or Mexico requests assistance.

The fallacy in López Obrador’s argument is the simple fact that no real war on drugs was ever waged in Mexico—or in the U.S., for that matter. If there had been, the executives of the Queen’s drug bank, Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp. (HSBC), would be sitting in jail. The friendly phone call between López Obrador and Trump later today, indicates there is a basis for real cooperation, that need only be expanded into the tripartite U.S.-China-Mexico program proposed by EIR. In the phone call, López Obrador offered his condolences for the deaths of the Americans (who had dual citizenship), and vowed that justice would be served, Milenio reported. Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard reported there was no mention of Trump’s proposed war in the call, and that the U.S. President expressed “total confidence” in Mexican authorities.

ECONOMY

Italy’s ‘Conte-2’ Government Implements Ecofascist Agenda

Nov. 5 (EIRNS)—The bad news: the pro-EU Italian government has implemented a first set of ecofascist measures that will have devastating consequences on the national economy. The good news: the social consequences of such policies will backfire and accelerate ending the lifespan of the government.

1. The ILVA steel plant in Taranto will be shut down as a result of both government and court actions, threatening serious consequences for the Italian economy. Taranto is the largest steel plant in Europe and alone is worth more than 1.4% of the GDP.

On Nov. 3, Arcelor-Mittal announced the cancellation of the purchase contract for ILVA, signed months ago, inducing as motivation the government bill lifting legal protection for the company over violation of environmental guidelines due to the former management. Additionally, a court injunction sets Dec. 31 as the date when the company has to accomplish certain additional measures, threatening the closure of a blast furnace. In a press release, Arcelor-Mittal lists the two circumstances as motivation for its cancellation decision.

The lifting of legal protection for Arcelor-Mittal was introduced by a Five Star (M5S) amendment to the government bill. The M5S has always campaigned for shutting down the Taranto plant altogether, blathering about a “reconversion” into something else.

ILVA has four blast furnaces, one of which has been already shut down. With the shutdown of a second furnace, it will be impossible for Arcelor-Mittal to implement its industrial plan. The plant already operates at loss. Over 10,000 jobs are at risk.

2. The government has introduced a tax on plastic bottles and on sweet snacks, dubbed as climate and health-protection taxes.

3. Education Minister Lorenzo Fioramonti, an economist who is the author of these two measures, has announced that next year, Italy will be first nation to make it compulsory for schoolchildren to study climate change and sustainable development. Many traditional subjects, such as mathematics, geography and physics, will also be studied but from the standpoint of sustainable development, Fioramonti said in an interview with Reuters. “I want to make the Italian education system the first education system that puts the environment and society at the core of everything we learn in school,” Fioramonti said.

Last September, Fioramonti created a controversy by encouraging students to skip lessons in order to participate in the “FridaysForFuture” demonstrations.

THE NEW GLOBAL ECONOMIC ORDER

Trump Offers To Mediate between Egypt and Ethiopia over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam

Nov. 5 (EIRNS)—President Donald Trump has offered to mediate between Egypt and Ethiopia over the long-time conflict between the two countries over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) being built on the upper Nile River, reported Sputnik International. On Nov. 4 Trump spoke with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi by phone, offering to host talks on Nov. 6 between officials from Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to settle the dispute over the GERD. “Today, President Donald J. Trump spoke with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt. President Trump expressed support for Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan’s ongoing negotiations to reach a collaborative agreement on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam,” White House spokesperson Judd Deere said in a statement.

Efforts at talks among the three—Ethiopia whose dam would be the largest hydropower dam in Africa, and the two downstream Nile countries, Sudan and Egypt, which believe the dam could harm their water needs and interests—failed in early October.

Earlier, el-Sisi expressed confidence that these talks would lead to a successful solution to the dispute that has been going on for years. It also follows an agreement on Oct. 24 made on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Economic Forum and Summit in Sochi between el-Sisi and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to restart negotiations by resuming “the operation of the independent technical negotiating commission in a more open and positive format” which will now meet on Nov. 6.

Xi Jinping Exhorts China International Import Expo To Put Common Good of Humanity First

Nov. 5 (EIRNS)—Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Second China International Import Expo, President Xi Jinping discussed the continuing process of “reform and opening up,” but focused his remarks on an appeal for the world to come together for the common good. Some excerpts:

“Of the problems confronting the world economy, none can be resolved by a single country alone. We must all put the common good of humanity first rather than place one’s own interest above the common interest of all. We must have a more open mindset and take more open steps, and work together to make the pie of the global market even bigger….

“All problems could be settled in the spirit of equality, mutual understanding and accommodation. We need to promote development through opening-up and deepen exchanges and cooperation among us. We need to ‘join hands’ with each other instead of ‘letting go’ of each other’s hands. We need to ‘tear down walls,’ not to ‘erect walls.’ ”

Xi closed his speech with optimism concerning China’s direction and future:

“I have faith in the bright prospects of China’s economic development. China’s development, viewed through the lens of history, is an integral part of the lofty cause of human progress. China will reach out its arms and offer countries in the world more opportunities of market, investment and growth. Together, we can achieve development for all. … The Chinese civilization has always valued peace under heaven and harmony among nations. Let us all work in that spirit and contribute to an open global economy and to a community with a shared future for mankind.”

SCIENCE AND INFRASTRUCTURE

French Scientists Make Breakthrough in Inertial Confinement Fusion Process

PARIS, Nov. 5 (EIRNS)—Yesterday, Nov. 4 former French Presidential candidate Jacques Cheminade, president of the Solidarité et Progrès party, shared the following tweet: “Success at the Laser Megajoule facility after the implosion of a micro-balloon inside a target containing deuterium leading to thermonuclear fusion. It was achieved in a defense context, but still a major step toward civilian nuclear fusion and space propulsion. The downside: No one is really explaining its significance.JC.”

The breakthrough took place in inertial confinement fusion (ICF), which in addition to the more familiar magnetic confinement fusion (e.g., tokamak, ITER), is one of the most promising routes towards achieving commercial fusion power.

ICF deploys lasers to heat and compress a mixture of deuterium and tritium (DT) contained in a pellet or microcapsule (also known as a micro-balloon) with the goal of inducing nuclear fusion reactions. To achieve this, the mixture is compressed for a very short period to obtain a density of several hundreds of grams per cubic centimeter, and heated to a temperature of 10 million degrees centigrade. The lasers of the device are designed to deliver, in a few billionths of a second, more than 1 million joules of light energy to targets measuring a few millimeters in size. The aim is to vaporize the external part of the microcapsule very rapidly. The reaction will cause the rest of the microcapsule to move towards the center (implosion), compressing and heating the DT mixture inside. The center reaches very high temperatures (hotspot) and fusion reactions occur. The hotspot behaves like a match and ignites the rest of the “fuel.”

Today, only two countries operate laser-based ICF devices: France, with the Laser Megajoule (LMJ) near Bordeaux, and the United States, with the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. There is longstanding cooperation between the French and the American teams of scientists.

In France, the LMJ is a key component of the Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) “Simulation Program.” Its purpose, it writes, “is to study, at a very small scale, the behavior of materials under extreme conditions similar to those reached during the operation of nuclear weapons.” It was officially commissioned on Oct. 23, 2014, with the performance of a first series of experiments.

According to an internal document made available to this author, a very successful operation took place on Friday, Oct. 11, when the organized beams of light of 48 giant lasers of the LMJ imploded a micro-balloon of a target of deuterium, creating a nuclear fusion reaction, that “materialized” by producing a 100 billion neutrons. Targeting, measurements, in short, everything took place as planned and calculated.

During his election campaigns, Cheminade repeatedly demanded that civilian researchers working on thermonuclear fusion get larger access to the LMJ. While the achievement of fusion power should be a priority for all, their access to the LMJ is limited to only 25% today. Even better would be to build a similar facility and dedicate it entirely to fusion research. In the near future, fusion power and lasers will be essential for travel in space and to eliminate space debris and nuclear waste.
