Helicopter Money and Green Finance Will Not Fund the Artemis Moon-Mars Mission

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—U.S. President Donald Trump and U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson are both promoting vast infrastructure and industrial development projects for their nations, but both are proceeding blindly, ignoring the (now very openly acknowledged) financial breakdown crisis facing Europe and the United States. Boris Johnson today suspended the Parliament, from Sept. 9 to Oct. 14, with a “Queen’s Speech” on the final day, in which the new government under Johnson will announce its program. According to Johnson, this will include huge increases in spending, for increased wages, health care, technology, infrastructure and more. No mention ofhow to fund the program, nor of the fact that the City of London and the Bank of England are essentially admitting that the system is bankrupt and ready to collapse, calling for “helicopter money” (as econo-quack Milton Friedman and former Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke quaintly called it), more QE, and negative interest rates, in a frantic effort to keep things afloat for a few more weeks or months. Even worse, they are demanding that credit be diverted from productive investments (which emit carbon, you see) and into wasteful and unproductive “green” boondoggles.

Unfortunately, much the same can be said of President Trump, who today in a tweet praised the negative interest rates now in place in Germany: “At the G-7 in France, all of the other Leaders were giddy about how low their Interest Costs have gone. Germany is actually ‘getting paid’ to borrow money – ZERO INTEREST PLUS! No Clue Fed!” But, as Lyndon LaRouche never failed to point out, money is dumb, as opposed to credit, which is based on the creation of a physical reality in the future. Pumping money into a wildly speculative system, without direction, without directing that credit towards a productive outcome, is the cause of the escalating crisis in the Western financial system. That was the genius of Alexander Hamilton’s credit system, as recognized by only a few precious Presidents, such as Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt.

But, fortunately, President Trump has launched a crash program to return to the Moon, and to build industrial capacity there to prepare for human colonization of Mars—the Artemis Project. Jack Kennedy’s Apollo Program generated a return to the real economy of approximately 14:1 for every dollar invested, through new technologies with applications across the productive platform of the national and global economies. It inspired a generation of youth to the potentials of the human race, to truly bring dominion over the Earth and the Solar System. That inspiration was drowned in drugs, environmentalism, perpetual wars, and cultural decadence, as the British-driven “68ers” systematically crushed the American System through the British free-market, libertarian takeover of the nation. The “Green New Deal” and the “Extinction Rebellion” fanatics today are an evil and genocidal extension of that “68er” degeneracy.

Can Trump’s Artemis revive the American spirit? If the space-faring nations of the world are brought together, it is eminently possible. If Russia, China, India, Japan and the European space effort are united in this great American-led project, they can, together, both conquer space for mankind, while also cooperating in dealing with the collapse of the financial system through a New Bretton Woods agreement—to return to a credit system, eliminate the $1.5 quadrillion in worthless gambling debts and launch real development. China’s Belt and Road is the model, proving to the developing nations that they can, at long last, end poverty and develop as modern industrial nations.

The Schiller Institute is mobilizing international days of action in early September, to bring all of mankind, especially the youth, together in support of the Moon-Mars mission, to look to the stars, and to reject the modern-day flagellants of the climate change movement. Our children must not be allowed to be abused and tormented by the psychotic “end of the world” cults which are now treated as if they were based on science. Our children deserve to be treated as truly human, with the potential to experience the joy of creative discovery, and to aspire to bringing development to their generation and to their posterity during their brief but precious time on this Earth, or on other celestial bodies. A common statement, to be translated into manylanguages, will be taken to campuses across Europe, the U.S., Africa, Asia and Ibero America. It is a time for action.

U.S. POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC

Former New York Fed President Dudley Wants Fed To Overthrow Trump

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—First, recall that the House of Lords issued a report warning that President Donald Trump must not be allowed a second term, or the British Empire’s control over the dumb giant United States would be lost.

Next, note that the former head of the New York Fed, Bill Dudley (president from 2009-2018), on Aug. 27 published an opinion piece on Bloomberg under the title: “The Fed Shouldn’t Enable Donald Trump—The central bank should refuse to play along with an economic disaster in the making.”

Dudley leaves nothing to the imagination—it’s either the elected President or us guys who run Wall Street on behalf of the City of London. The current crisis in the Western financial system, says Dudley, has nothing to do with the quadrillion-dollar-plus in worthless derivatives and related leveraged debt now draining productive credit out of the system and ready to explode—oh, no, it is “President Donald Trump’s trade war with China,” he claims, which “keeps undermining the confidence of businesses and consumers, worsening the economic outlook. This manufactured disaster-in-the-making presents the Federal Reserve with a dilemma: Should it mitigate the damage by providing offsetting stimulus, or refuse to play along?”

Dudley does not hide his answer: “I understand and support Fed officials’ desire to remain apolitical. But Trump’s ongoing attacks on [Fed Chairman] Powell and on the institution have made that untenable. Central bank officials face a choice: enable the Trump Administration to continue down a disastrous path of trade war escalation, or send a clear signal that if the administration does so, the President, not the Fed, will bear the risks including the risk of losing the next election.”

Nor does Dudley hide his British-like assertion that the Fed has the right and the power to interfere in the election to bring Trump down: “There’s even an argument that the election itself falls within the Fed’s purview. After all, Trump’s reelection arguably presents a threat to the U.S. and global economy, to the Fed’s independence and its ability to achieve its employment and inflation objectives. If the goal of monetary policy is to achieve the best long-term economic outcome, then Fed officials should consider how their decisions will affect the political outcome in 2020.”

There you have it—the London and Wall Street bankers must make public what has only been covert up until now: a treasonous intent to control the government on behalf of the Lords in London.

Extinction Rebellion, FridaysForFuture Mobilized on Amazon Issue, Prey on Vulnerable Youth

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—The Malthusians in Extinction Rebellion (XR) and affiliated FridaysForFuture movement of brainwashed youth are fully mobilized around the issue of Amazon fires, although it has been shown that the fires are at about the average for the past 15 years. Since Aug. 23, they and like-minded groups have held protests in front of Brazilian embassies and consulates in cities around the globe, under the slogan “Rebel for the Amazon: Our lungs are on fire!”

In their call to arms last week, the XR website urged all to “stand in solidarity with all those who suffer because of these fires. The indigenous peoples, their land, their homes, their way of life are being destroyed by this.” These protests will feed into the Youth Climate Strike and Climate Action Week planned for Sept. 20-27, with Greta Thunberg as their star.

There is a particularly vicious aspect to these actions, in which vulnerable teens are targetted to feel powerless and grief-stricken over what is supposedly happening to the climate—literally driving them into depression. An Aug. 26 Jerusalem Post article printed a tweet from one young protester who announced, “I haven’t slept for two days. I’m so scared, and I have the right to be that. The indigenous people in the Amazon. I am with you, I’m scared for you. Your future is disappearing right in front of you and I can’t do anything.”

At an Aug. 26 XR protest in front of the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, also joined by the Sunrise Movement and DC Climate Strike, protesters were urged to express their “climate grief,” and to hold an “Amazon grief-counselling session.” Groups of three or four people formed to grieve over the environment together, and one young activist was so overwrought that she burst into tears. These “end of the world” cults are being treated as legitimate in nearly all media coverage.

An Aug. 23 article in The Cut documented the confessions of a youngster in Southern California who reported he “started waking up in the middle of the night in fear of climate change…. Every day I discovered around me new signs pointing to the death of the world.” The solution? See a climate therapist, to help “avoid the terror of climate change.” This therapist explained that denial of climate change had created a “massive lack of solidarity on the issue among family members, friends.” To deal with the grief, she proposed that one could ask family members to take a pledge, “a kind of climate-change-awareness pyramid scheme, so they could have a way to share their pain and let them feel bad together.”

STRATEGIC WAR DANGER

Putin and Erdogan Discuss Military-Technical Cooperation between Russia and Turkey

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Russian President Vladimir Putin at Zhukovsky International Airport outside Moscow, yesterday, site of the Aug. 27-Sept. 1 MAKS 2019 airshow. Prior to their public statements, they spoke to astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Putin also gave Erdogan a tour of the airshow, including an Su-57 stealth fighter.

“We have shown you a series of various products, both military and civilian,” Putin said afterwards, according to the Kremlin transcript. “They not only demonstrate Russia’s capability in aerospace but also offer a variety of cooperation opportunities. We know about Turkey’s high-tech development plans. Of course, we could join forces in the areas where our capabilities are especially strong and sought after.”

“Today we have taken a closer look at Russia’s defense industry,” Erdogan replied. “I would like to express satisfaction at the fact that today we also saw Russian-made engines for passenger liners, combat aircraft, helicopters, and other aviation equipment,” he said further, mentioning that he had seen aerial demonstrations of the Su-35 and Su-57 fighters and of the Mi-38 helicopter. “We want to continue our solidarity [with Russia] in many areas of the defense industry. It can be on passenger or fighter aircraft. The whole thing is the spirit of solidarity,” Erdogan said.

“Many things intrigued our Turkish partners and not only from a purchasing point of view but also from joint production angle. By the way, we are ready for this and will discuss certain directions,” Putin said. “Erdogan’s visit has been an opportunity to discuss joint perspective projects not only in aviation but also in other domains, such as the S-400.”

Dmitry Shugayev, director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, said he would hold talks Aug. 28 with the head of the Presidency of Defense Industries Ismail Demir, reported theDaily Sabah.

“We’ll continue discussing the topics on our agenda. We will move forward with the possible deliveries of the Su-35 or Su-57s, as great interest had been shown, but it’s too early to talk about contract negotiations. There is still no request [from Turkey], consultations should be held,” Shugayev said.

Turkey has, in fact, been seeking a new supplier to reinforce its aging air force fleet, especially after being booted out of the F-35 program by the Trump Administration.

Putin Supports Security Zone Along the Turkish-Syrian Border

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—During the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Russia on Aug. 27, the Russian President in effect endorsed Turkey’s planned “security zone” on the Syrian side of the Turkish-Syrian border. Speaking at a press conference after their meeting, Putin said: “We understand Turkey’s concern related to ensuring the security of its southern borders, and we think that these are lawful interests of the Republic of Turkey. To our mind, the creation of a security zone on the southern border of the Republic of Turkey will serve as a good precondition for maintaining territorial integrity of Syria itself,” the Russian President stressed, declaring that Moscow supports de-escalation activity in the area, TASS reported yesterday.

“By the way, stabilizing the situation on the territory of Syria leads to many people returning home: over 300,000 refugees have arrived from abroad, and 1 million internally displaced people have returned home,” he said.

On the occasion of Erdogan’s visit, Russia’s space agency Roscosmos offered to send a Turkish astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS). “We have a joint offer to you—to send a Turkish astronaut to the orbit to celebrate the Republic’s anniversary. The Cosmonaut Training Center is ready to work on this,” Roscosmos Director Dmitry Rogozin said, referring to the centennial of the Turkish Republic to be celebrated on Oct. 29, 2023.

Archbishop of Canterbury, a Former Oil Exec, Gives Backing to ‘Green’ Finance

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has thrown his support behind the green finance scam in statements calling on investment funds to put their money in companies that reduce their impact on the environment. He made the comments in support of a Global Ethical Finance Initiative summit scheduled to take in October in Edinburgh.

“The situation we find ourselves in has rightly been called a climate emergency,” Welby said. “We know it’s unquestionable that investors acting together can influence outcomes on everything, including climate change. It is in investors’ power to help avert the disastrous consequences—ethical and financial—of failing to achieve the Paris goals.

“Money is not morally neutral—it can do harm and it can do good. At the very least it is the responsibility of investors to take account of environmental, social and governance factors in their investment decisions and in their stewardship of their assets.”

Before becoming born-again Anglican, Welby was a senior executive at Elf Aquitaine and Enterprise Oil plc petroleum companies.

He demanded that funds that track indexes such as the FTSE 100 should exert more pressure than they have on companies over the imagined climate crisis. “Passive investment … may be the right investment solution for many, but passive stewardship is the answer for no one. All investors can make a difference by engaging and voting determinably in support of the Paris agreement,” Welby said. Saying that fund managers had “not sufficiently stepped up to the plate” on green finance, he insisted they meet targets set by the Paris Climate Accord.

The Global Ethical Finance 2019 (EF2019) summit will be held Oct. 8-9, organized by the Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI), which annually hosts such a conference in Edinburgh, where business, political, civic and social leaders co-develop and shape a “more sustainable financial system.” In introducing the conference on their website, they reference the Bank of England’s “recognition” of climate change as a core financial risk. It is cosponsored by the UNDP and Scottish government, and will include over 400 leading finance practitioners from throughout the world. Among the main speakers, in addition to Welby, is Sir Roger Gifford, Chair of the Green Finance Initiative—the City of London plan for green financing, as a means, however short-lived, to bolster a financial system in its death throes.

THE NEW GLOBAL ECONOMIC ORDER

Russian Railways, German Consortium Join To Build Moscow-St. Petersburg High-Speed Rail

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—TASS reports on the ceremony that took place today in Moscow, in which Russian Railways and the German Initiative for the Development of High-Speed Rail Lines in Russia—a consortium including Siemens, Deutsche Bank, and Deutsche Bahn, among others—signed a memorandum of cooperation to design, finance, and implement the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway. Russian Railways General Director Oleg Belozyorov and Sabrina Soussan, CEO of Siemens Mobility GmbH, signed the document.

In a statement, Russian Railways declared that “the parties agree to develop comprehensive cooperation in the field of design and consulting, production and supply of equipment, investment and financing for the implementation of the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway. It is assumed that the high-speed railway project will be carried out based on public-private partnership mechanisms.”

In April, President Vladimir Putin had given the go-ahead to start designing the project, and in June, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov estimated that the preliminary cost of the project would be $22.5 billion (1.5 trillion rubles). In January President Putin had also approved construction of the first section (from Moscow to Nizhny-Novgorod) of the 800-km high-speed railway line between Moscow and Kazan, Kommersant reported at the time. Once built, this line will reduce travel time between Moscow and Kazan from 11.5 to 3.5 hours.

Macron Urges, Russia Must Be Part of Building New Security Architecture in Europe

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—In an address yesterday before the French Ambassadors’ Conference, President Emmanuel Macron said Russia is needed in order to build trust and a new security architecture in Europe. “We need partnership with Russia to build a new architecture of trust and security in Europe,” Macron was quoted as saying by TASS. Pushing Russia away from Europe would be “a great strategic mistake.”

“If we don’t take the necessary steps here in Europe, we will remain in an atmosphere of tension, frozen conflicts and the consequences of the Cold War. In this case, we will keep on living in Europe as if it were a theater of a strategic standoff between the U.S. and Russia,” Macron he told the diplomats at the Aug. 27-30 conference. In his view, “it is impossible to revive the European civilization without deeply reassessing ties with Russia.”

Russia should not view Europe “as kind of the West’s Trojan horse,” as happened in the 1990s and 2000s, Macron emphasized. “This is not in our interest.”

He described how during the Aug. 19 meeting Macron had with Russian President Vladimir Putin, they had decided to create a working group to address issues regarding the construction of a new European architecture of trust and security.

Macron has also urged for cooperation with Russia in space and cybersecurity. “We need to think over our space strategy together with Russia. Let’s not forget that in the course of our history, we have managed to do that. As for space, as far as I understand, our main allies are not Americans,” the French leader stated. “Together, we need to think about cyber strategy.”

He said, the sides “are very far from that.” However, “we need to hold serious talks on this matter, we need to strive towards building an agenda of trust once again,” Macron stressed.

“The [French] foreign minister and the defense minister will visit Moscow for talks in a few days,” he informed the ambassadors. The regular consultations between French and Russian foreign ministers had been suspended in 2014, and this will be the first of their talks since then.

At last week’s G7 meeting in France, Macron and President Donald Trump agreed to recommend that Russia be restored to membership in the G8. Next year’s summit takes place in the United States.

SCIENCE AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Epidemic of Serious Lung Disease among Vaping Teens and Young Adults

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—Alarm among federal and state health officials is spreading over the emergence of a critical lung disease related to nicotine and marijuana vaping among teens and young adults. Approximately 192 cases have been reported over the past few months, including 149 hospitalizations and at least 1 death.

The federal government, which has done little to deal with this crisis, sounded the alarm last June; yet since then, Politico reports, there have been no product recalls or any details or broad public awareness campaigns about which vaping products might be causing the illness.

Vaping through use of e-cigarettes has become very popular among young people in recent years. Between 2017 and 2018, e-cigarette use among high-school students increased to 20.8%, from 11.7%, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported. The market has been flooded not only with sweet and fruity flavors, but also with vapors infused with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active ingredient in cannabis—and, there is absolutely no regulation of e-cigarette or similar products.

How to respond? Marijuana is still illegal at the federal level, so many officials complain that there are no national safety standards or safeguards. In the absence of action by the Food and Drug Administration or CDC, many state health and medical professionals, as well as legislators, are calling for better regulation of marijuana and other vape products, or banning vaping altogether for young people.

Taken in the context the drive by London’s Dope, Inc. apparatus to legalize all menticidal drugs in the United States, regulating or proposing a ban on vaping won’t solve the problem. Shutting down that apparatus, and its affiliated banks and financiers, is the more appropriate subject for discussion.

IPCC Climate ‘Expert’ Mann Is Discredited by Court Case He Brought

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—One of the leading druids of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the Paris Climate Accord, Prof. Michael Mann of Penn State, has had his “hockey stick” graph of Earth’s climate history discredited in the British Columbia Supreme Court. Mann sued Canadian Prof. Timothy Ball for libel in 2011 after Ball stated in a radio interview that the infamous climate change hysteric belonged in the “state pen” rather than Penn State where Mann teaches. Ball asserted a truth defense to the libel claims based on his view that Mann’s hockey stick graph was a scientific fraud. Now, Mann’s libel suit has been dismissed, with prejudice, by the Vancouver court in which it was filed, and Mann has been ordered to pay costs.

According to various press reports, Mann was asked repeatedly over the eight-year lawsuit, and finally ordered by the court, to reveal the data and/or the statistical method he used to construct the “hockey stick” curve which appeared to show the global temperature in the 20th century rising dramatically above the previous 1,000 years. He refused, even on pain of losing the case and being ordered to pay considerable court costs.

Mann on Aug. 27 issued a disingenuous “denial” of the result, claiming he hadn’t lost, and that his suit was only dismissed “on account of delay”—his own, of course.

Dr. Ball has been sued by three different IPCC members, including Mann. As well, Mann has filed at least two other libel suits. Ball told an interviewer on Aug. 27, “What the court has done goes to confirm that the whole climate thing is a deception.”

Unlike National Hockey League players whose curved sticks have to be inspected against League standards, Mann has not made publicly available the underlying data or regression analysis for his “hockey stick” curve. Thus it combines tree ring data (“reconstruction”) from some centuries, with surface temperature readings from others, in some unknown way. It appears to show the 19th century as cold as the 15th century’s “Little Ice Age.”

Yet, Mann’s 1998 hockey stick became one of the long poles in the tent of the IPCC’s global warming fraud. In 2001 the IPCC made him Lead Author of Chapter 2 of Working Group I of the IPCC’s Assessment Report, and was on the cover of that report. Al Gore leaned on the hockey stick in his “Inconvenient Truth” film. In 2007 the IPCC made Mann “Expert Reviewer” of Working Group I’s contributions to the Fourth Assessment Report. In 2018 it made him the AAAS Public Engagement with Science award winner. In 2019 the IPCC reported on its site that Mann got the $200,000 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement “for his research in reconstructing the Earth’s past climate.”All this has been based on the secret sauce of a highly litigious climate-emergency campaigner, who now calls the IPCC’s latest assessments “too conservative.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson Calls for Suspension of Parliament, Which Queen Accepts

Aug. 28 (EIRNS)—Boris Johnson announced, this morning, that he was calling on the Queen (as such things are done in the U.K.) to suspend Parliament from Sept. 9 to Oct. 14, and for a “Queen’s Speech” to be held on Oct. 14. The Queen then made the call, as expected of her on political matters.

Normally, the suspension of Parliament (or, “prorogation”) takes place at the end of a parliamentary session, before a new government presents its proposed policies to Parliament via a reading by the Sovereign, with all the pomp of such occasions. But, given the timing of Johnson’s call, with Parliament returning from a summer break on Sept. 3, and a “no-deal Brexit” scheduled for Oct. 31, the opposition and the press, and even some Tories, are crying foul, accusing Johnson of not giving the opposition to a no-deal Brexit time to debate and vote down the policy.

“Constitutional outrage,” screamed John Bercov, the Speaker of the Parliament—a somewhat strange cry, since there is no constitution in the U.K. “A smash and grab of our democracy,” said Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who has wasted his wide base of support by insisting on a new referendum on Brexit itself. Former Prime Minister John Major threatened to take it to court. Scottish National Party chief Nicola Sturgeon called Johnson a “tin pot dictator.”

Johnson, meanwhile, said all the complaints were misguided, that Parliament will have “ample time” before and after the prorogation to debate and vote on the no-deal Brexit. In an interview with the press, he said his new government couldn’t wait for Oct. 31, to put forward legislation to launch his new programs. He listed: making the streets safer; increasing funding for the NHS health service and education; new infrastructure investments to “take the country forward for decades”; and moving toward a “high wage, high productivity economy.”

Sounds good—but he made no mention of the fact that the City of London over the past week has essentially admitted that the financial system is bankrupt, with no solution in mind other that printing gobs of money and passing it out directly from the central banks—helicopter money. If that’s all Boris has, there will be no productive investment boom.
