Let the Greens ‘Deal’ Themselves Out; Learn the Science of the Energy of the Future

Feb. 18 (EIRNS)—The sudden flocking of what seems like dozens of Democratic Presidential candidates to endorse a “Green New Deal” of which they knew nothing just days earlier, is a sign, in America, of the collapse of the “liberal” governing parties going on all over Europe since 2016.

The rapid electoral collapse of the formerly governing parties in Germany, France, Italy, etc. followed their adoption of increasingly fantastic “new economy” claims and plans which were colored deeper and deeper “green,” but which were actually brutal forms of economic austerity and deindustrialization under a green cover. Germany is exemplary: Its governing parties have “exited” the country from nuclear and now from coal, and have thereby tripled the cost of electricity to their people’s households and industrial jobs. Now those parties themselves are rapidly “exiting,” and splintering, after years of zero- or negative economic growth, suppression of wages and incomes, workfare programs, and so on. The same in France has triggered the open national revolt of the “Yellow Vests.”

Now the Democratic candidates are signing on to a Congressional “Green New Deal” resolution full of utopian “new economy” claims so wild, that they make covering the European countrysides and seacoasts with giant windmills look realistic by comparison. Nor do any of these Democratic “leaders” know what is actually inside computer climate models; nor do they know the science of future energy and power technologies. The call, by their new whip-hand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for closing down all the nuclear power plants in America, threw these Democrats into a panic. They did not want to say anything about any energy technologies—just that they must be “clean”; and they must give us “prosperity for all” instead of the zero growth and austerity that “green energy” is bringing the rest of the industrial West.

The most efficient and cleanest electric power/heat source with the highest quality industrial energy today, is nuclear power. But the far greater potential of the near future is expressed in the “Four New Laws To Save the Nation” developed by Lyndon LaRouche. A crash program to master fusion power is the key to electrifying the areas of the planet which are “blacked out” at night, and ending poverty there. Plasma science is also the basis for the propulsion and other new technologies for space colonization beyond the Moon. And these technologies are the keys to future development of a Strategic Defense of Earth against asteroid or comet strikes from space.

The other spacefaring nations will cooperate with the United States to make these the common frontiers of scientific endeavor and economic development for mankind as a whole.

THE NEW GLOBAL ECONOMIC ORDER

Russia’s UN Ambassador Greets Schiller Conference for ‘New, More Human Epoch for Mankind’

Feb. 18 (EIRNS)—Ambassador Vassily A. Nebenzia, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, conveyed a message to the Feb. 16 Schiller Institute national conference on “Let Us Create a New, More Human Epoch for Mankind.” His statement was presented by Counsellor Fedor Strzhizhovskiy of the Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN. The greeting was entitled, “Prospects for East-West Collaboration: The Russian Federation’s View” [The following is the Schiller Institute’s transcription, pending receipt of the official text.]

Fedor Strzhizhovskiy: Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s a real pleasure for me to be here, giving the tribute to the role which Russian-American relations play in the modern world, and the contribution of the Schiller Institute to that relation. We prepared a statement, which I will read now.

First of all, I welcome the organizers, participants and guests of this conference. The Schiller Institute is known for its valuable contribution to the understanding of international political processes, and development of new approaches to the global challenges. The conferences held under your auspices are respectful platforms, where the most urgent present-day issues can be discussed, without politicizing and ideological clichés.

We were very saddened by the bitter news about the passing of Lyndon LaRouche, the founder and inspirer of the Schiller Institute. We would like to express our deepest condolences to Helga Zepp-LaRouche, as well as to the relatives and colleagues.

We are convinced that the paradigm of international, political, and economical intervention that he had proposed will be further developed by his apprentices and associates. [applause]

We believe that the assent of a more human epoch is only possible when the world enjoys a more equitable, polycentric model of governance. However, recently we have become witnesses of the attempts to shatter the world security architecture, substitute agreed universal norms by some rules-based order, where rules are invented, depending on the geopolitical interest to concrete countries. Nonetheless, dangerous for the global stability is the striving of the governments of some countries to unilaterally impose their will on the global community, or on specific sovereign states, or even to interfere in their domestic affairs. In the same light, we should view the use of sanctions as a tool to execute pressure and punish the countries that implement an independent policy.

Russia is proud to be located between West and East. Historically, we have been implementing multitask foreign policy and developing relations with other countries in the spirit of mutual respect. Russia comprehensively helps to search for, based on international law, collective decisions to the global problems which all the countries face today. We constructively engage in the activities of the UN and Group of 20, to contribute to the relevant forms of interaction, for example, Collective Security Treaty Organization, Eurasian Economic Union, Commonwealth of Independent States, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS. One of the conceptual pillars of developing this sort of cooperation was proposed by President Putin in his initiative called, “Greater Eurasian Partnership.” It would bring together member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Probably one day, it would also encompass the European Union. The previous year was marked by a number of significant steps to implement this project: The Eurasian Economic Commission and ASEAN signed a Memorandum of Understanding which was crucial for the extension of the geography and economy of the Eurasian Partnership. Adoption of the declaration on further development in integrational process in the Eurasian Economic Union made it possible to extend the establishment of common markets and add to it such areas of cooperation as education, research, health care, and trade. The Eurasian Economic Union and Chinese initiative, One Belt, One Road, joined the integration and transportation projects on contractual and legal basis of the agreement on trade and economic cooperation.

Bilateral cooperation of Russia and China also takes on a global dimension. Our effective foreign policy coordination, including the UN platform, has become a significant factor of stabilization in global policy.

We are also committed to foster our relations with another privileged strategic partner: India. This commitment was reiterated in the joint declaration “Russia-India Reliable Partnership in a Changing World,” adopted at the bilateral summit in October.

We cannot but mention an unofficial summit, Russia-India-China, that took place in December in Buenos Aires after a 12-year pause.

Relations between Russia and the U.S. are also crucially important for global stability, because we are two states, major nuclear powers and UN Security Council permanent members. We face shared challenges: international terrorism, military and humanitarian crises, drug trafficking, transnational crime, and others. The success of our joint efforts of these and many other tracks is that both Moscow and Washington are interested in what is needed in the sustainable development of all countries. Russia understands the increased responsibility of both states for global peace and security. We have repeatedly expressed our readiness to normalize the relations between our countries. We hope that systemic political dialogue with our American partners, based on mutual respect and consideration of each other’s national interests, will be resumed.

We are convinced that the present-day world has no alternative to cooperation and merge of potentials. Only this path may lead to the assent of a more human epoch.

We wish for this conference to be creative, and contribute to mutual trust and confidence of global affairs. We wish you every success and hope we will have meaningful discussions.

Academician Glazyev Memorializes LaRouche as ‘A Great Thinker of Our Time’

Feb. 18 (EIRNS)—The following eulogy was drafted for the Russian newspaper Zavtra by Sergei Yu. Glazyev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation. It was translated by EIR:

Lyndon LaRouche has left us. He was a titan of thought, a man of incredibly encyclopedic knowledge, great soul, and love for humanity.

He will always remain in our memory as an ardent fighter for mankind’s happy future, based on implementation of the principles of physical economy—a realistic school of economic thought, directed towards the creation of material benefits and the conditions for socioeconomic development.

In contrast to the libertarian tendency that today dominates mainstream economic ideology, in the interests of the world financial oligarchy, Lyndon LaRouche developed genuine economic science in the interests of the development of the productive forces of mankind. His concept of a Eurasian development bridge from Western Europe to Russia’s Far East, and onward to Alaska and the U.S.A., could become a real alternative to today’s hybrid world war. LaRouche foresaw the Russophobic aggression of the American ruling elite and warned of its ruinous consequences, insisting on broad international cooperation for the creation of transcontinental development corridors.

LaRouche forecast the inevitable onset of a global financial crisis, many years before it arrived. LaRouche’s famous curve [Triple Curve/Typical Collapse Function], depicting the growing gap between the volume of real output and that of financial speculation, was a serious warning for all economists who were really thinking. It turned out that not only in Russia, but also in the U.S.A., no one is a prophet in his own country. Instead of being recognized, LaRouche was persecuted by the American financial oligarchy, who imprisoned him on false charges.

I remember one of the leaders of the Brookings Institution urging me, in a whisper, not to have any contact with LaRouche, so as not to spoil my reputation. For me, who had come to the U.S.A. to take part in a scientific forum on issues of developing democratic institutions in the post-Soviet region, this was shocking. From then on, I started closely reading LaRouche’s publications and attending conferences he organized. And I must acknowledge that his presentations were often a ray of light in the kingdom of darkness and hypocrisy, which had seized the public mind of “progressive” mankind.

EIR magazine, published by LaRouche, was a guidebook through the dark corridors of the Western ruling elite, exposing the hidden springs of the world financial oligarchy’s anti-human policies. Tracing the fonts of its origin from the time of the sack of the Byzantine Empire, he described the eternal struggle against that worldwide evil, which is incarnate in the oligarchical clans of capitalism in the West. Many of the recurrences of racism, Nazism and fascism, and religious extremism, which we observe in the world today, cannot be explained without LaRouche’s investigations, which were striking in their historical depth.

LaRouche enjoyed enormous respect among the expert community in many countries around the world. I have had the opportunity to meet his supporters in India, Latin America, China, Africa, and, of course, in Europe and the CIS countries. One would hope for this international expert community, inspired by the ideas of Lyndon LaRouche, to be preserved. Today those ideas are coming to life in a new world economic paradigm, which we call “integral,” for it unites the interests of the peoples of various countries in the harmonious development of humanity.

China Releases Plan for Development of Its ‘Greater Bay Area’

Feb. 18 (EIRNS)—The Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the State Council of China released today the detailed plans for the development of the “Greater Bay Area,” a region comprising the nine cities of the coastal Guangdong region and Hong Kong and Macao. Sometimes compared to the Greater Bay Area of San Francisco, where high-tech telecommunications companies are based, the Chinese Greater Bay Area encompasses a region of 68 million people. Located on the southern coast of China and adjacent to the port of Hong Kong, this region will also become the major seaport of the region and a major hub for the southern Maritime Silk Road. Its extensive rail links to the rest of China also make it a major nexus between the Belt and Road.

The region is already well equipped to become a high-tech hub without equal. The city of Guangzhou will have its functions strengthened as an international commerce and industry center and transport hub. Shenzhen, where much of the advanced IT industry is located, will become a capital of innovation and creativity. The financial hub of Hong Kong is envisioned to become a major international financial center, together with the Shenzhen stock market. The government also intends to accelerate the introduction of international advanced technology, management experience, and high-quality talents; support multinational companies to set up global R&D centers, laboratories and open innovation platforms in the Greater Bay Area to enhance the capacity of the Greater Bay Area to allocate global resources.

In addition to becoming a major hub in the Belt and Road Initiative, the Greater Bay area will also serve to more fully incorporate the mainland with Hong Kong and Macao in the “one country, two systems” framework. The plan envisions completion of the cluster in 2022.

COLLAPSING WESTERN FINANCIAL SYSTEM

Wind and Solar Triple the Cost of Electricity

Feb. 18 (EIRNS)—Countries that reach the dubious “milestone” of 1 kw per capita of installed wind and solar electricity, gain far higher electricity prices to residential and commercial consumers, than other countries. This is exemplified by Denmark and Germany, which each are at the top of the installed wind and solar scale, having more than 1 kw per capita, and in which the average residential electricity prices to consumers are 32-34 cents/kwh—by far the highest of any industrial country—with commercial bulk sales in the range of 25 cents/kwh. The United States average residential price in 2017, for comparison, was 13 cents/kwh.

The “Green New Deal” can thus promise a tripling of electricity costs, along with the other austerity conditions and economic collapse it would deliver.

The data are from the German trade publication Strom.

U.S. POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC

McCabe Book and ‘60 Minutes’ Interview Again Reveal Live Coup

Feb. 18 (EIRNS)—The “Eight Days in May” in which Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe plotted a coup against President Donald Trump, following the firing of FBI Director James Comey, are now making their way, loudly, back into the American consciousness. It is like a re-run of the Zapruder film over and over again from the grassy knoll. Remember, a lot of this came to light as a New York Times “bombshell” back in September 2018, detailing how Rosenstein raised “wearing a wire” to record the President and garner support for invoking the 25th Amendment. That same month saw the New York Times “bombshell” anonymous story allegedly involving a high administration official telling the public that the President’s own administration was resisting his agenda on behalf of their idea of how the country should work.

All of Washington moved to quell the uproar then, because of the inevitable conclusion about what it must mean for the origins of Robert Mueller’s specious investigation. In throwing Rosenstein under the bus, backed by former FBI General Counsel James Baker, McCabe has usefully reintroduced, forcefully, back into the national consciousness, the fact that we are living amidst a coup. Every legal commentator who is not insane has recognized what this means: Alan Dershowitz, Andy McCarthy, Sidney Powell, Joseph diGenova, and many, many others. Baker had testified that he believed that two cabinet officials had signalled that they were onboard with invocation of the 25th Amendment.

The question now is whether the furies will this time emerge, and fight to end this national nightmare.

As we have documented, the coup was instigated by the British with the dubious dossier of Christopher Steele and efforts to turn it into something other than the sloppy and insane intelligence product it is. McCabe has stated repeatedly, that, without the Steele dossier, there would never have been Russiagate. Similarly, former National Security Agency Technical Director Bill Binney’s recent studies, coupled with his previous work, provide irrefutable proof that the Russians are not responsible for the WikiLeaks trove of documents which showed Hillary Clinton rigging the election against Bernie Sanders. This is the largest intelligence fraud in history and McCabe’s “revelations” simply concern the end stage of the initial process.

McCabe’s additional spins for the Resist partisans he is addressing, involve what seem to be a complete mis-briefing of the President as to whether McCabe was “resisting Comey.” According to McCabe, Trump told him he had heard that McCabe was part of the FBI resistance to Comey. If this or something similar ever happened, McCabe is claiming some form of mind meld with Trump, insisting that, by this mistake, the President was obviously trying to get him to say he was resisting Comey in order to keep his job. McCabe also claims that Trump believed Putin over the U.S. intelligence community as to whether North Korean missiles could reach the United States.

This and the phony Steele dossier, and firing the “respected” James Comey, were the basis upon which Rosenstein and McCabe discussed renewed efforts to get rid of the duly elected President while opening criminal and counterintelligence investigations with Trump as the target. The President has appropriately responded to McCabe’s “60 Minutes” speech by calling it treason, and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham is vowing immediate hearings.

Lindsey Graham To Subpoena McCabe and Rosenstein over ‘Coup’

Feb. 17 (EIRNS)—Sen. Lindsey Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said he will subpoena former FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe over allegations that he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein with planning a coup against President Donald Trump in an effort to invoke the 25th Amendment.

“There’s an allegation by the acting FBI director at the time that the deputy attorney general was basically trying to do an administrative coup,” Graham told CBS News broadcast “Face the Nation,” today. “[To] take the President down to the 25th Amendment process. The deputy attorney general denies it. I promise your viewers the following, that we will have a hearing about who’s telling the truth.”

“I think everybody in the country needs to know if it happened,” he said. “It’s stunning to me that one of the chief law enforcement officers of the land—the acting head of the FBI—would go on national television and say, ‘Oh by the way, I remember a conversation with the deputy attorney general about trying to find if we could replace the President under the 25th Amendment.

“[McCabe] went on national television and he made an accusation that floors me … we’re going to find out what happened here and the only way I know to find out is to call the people in under oath and find out, through questioning, who’s telling the truth because the underlying accusation is beyond stunning.”

Asked if he would subpoena McCabe and Rosenstein to appear, Graham said: “How can I not, if that’s what it takes?”

Trump Asserts That Obama Considered War against North Korea

Feb. 17 (EIRNS)—In a speech in the White House Rose Garden on Feb. 15, President Donald Trump asserted that former U.S. President Barack Obama had considered launching a “surgical” missile strike against North Korea’s nuclear arsenal. “I believe [Obama] would have gone to war with North Korea,” Trump said. “I think he was ready to go to war. In fact, he told me he was so close to starting a big war with North Korea.”

Trump also reasserted that if he had not been elected and Hillary Clinton were in the White House, the U.S. would have been at war with North Korea.

Trump cited a 90-minute conversation he had with Obama in November 2016 when he became President-elect, in which Obama told him that North Korea would be the new administration’s toughest foreign policy challenge.

Obama’s lackeys jumped in to claim that Trump was lying, with former CIA director and would-be coup plotter John Brennan telling NBC News that Obama was never on the verge of starting any war with North Korea. He was followed by similar comments from Benjamin J. Rhodes, Obama’s Deputy National Security Adviser, in Twitter.

Britain’s Guardian reminds its readers that according to Bob Woodward’s recent book Fear: Trump in the White House, Obama did consider a strike against North Korea, asking the National Security Council if a preemptive missile strike combined with cyber attacks could wipe out the Pyongyang’s entire nuclear arsenal.

Interestingly the Guardian also reminds its readers that early in the Obama Presidency, his administration saw the creation of a U.S.-led coalition to conduct airstrikes and establish the Al-Tanf military base in Syria without authorization from the Damascus government. They point to fears back in 2014 that heightened tensions with Russia over Crimea’s referendum to reunite with Russia, there were fears that there could have been a U.S.-Russian military conflict had Hillary Clinton won the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

STRATEGIC WAR DANGER

British Defense Secretary’s Anti-China Speech Sinks Chancellor of the Exchequer’s Beijing Visit

Feb. 17 (EIRNS)—It seems the first sinking by the HMS Queen Elizabeth, the Royal Navy’s aircraft carrier and biggest ship, has been the visit of Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond’s trip to China, after Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson gave a speech last week in which he said Brexit will increase the British military’s “lethality.” The first display of this rebirth of British gunboat diplomacy would be the dispatch of the HMS Queen Elizabeth to the South China Sea to challenge China’s territorial claims. Williamson made this threat despite the fact that the air squadrons of the carrier will not be operational before 2021.

The threat apparently was enough to cause the Chinese government to cancel Hammond’s trip. He was expected to meet the Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua, and no doubt try to start a new post-Brexit trade agreement with Britain’s second largest non-European Union trade partner. The Sun wrote that China had been expected to lift its bans on British poultry and cosmetics not tested on animals, which could have opened up access to markets worth around £10 billion over five years. Hu is said to have ordered the trip cancelled shortly after Williamson made his speech.

SCIENCE AND INFRASTRUCTURE

NASA Aims To Accelerate ‘Commercial’ Unmanned Lunar Payloads

Feb. 18 (EIRNS)—NASA is accelerating its commercial lunar payload program, to try to get a NASA science payload to the surface of the Moon this year. To do that, it is offering “financial bonuses” to the private companies that are developing supposedly “commercial” lunar landers.

In November, NASA selected nine companies to develop lunar landers that could carry NASA science payloads to the surface of the Moon. They would then get paid by NASA for the delivery. Now, NASA is apparently getting worried that these companies (all but one you’ve never heard of, because they haven’t done anything yet) may not be ready on this accelerated timetable. So NASA will provide “financial incentives,” to what has been billed as a privately developed, commercial endeavor.

Time is of the essence, is the new mantra at the space agency. At a briefing from NASA headquarters on Feb. 14, Administrator Bridenstine said directly, “It’s important that we get back to the Moon as fast as possible.” The first step, is to accelerate this commercial payload program. Bridenstine has also stated that NASA plans to move its first manned landing on the Moon up to 2028, from a previous early 2030s.

Any guess who they are worried about getting there first?
