Earlier, Politico noted that Italian Industry Minister Carlo Calenda had campaigned for blocking China’s market economy status last year, and Italian media report that Calenda was a leader in organizing the trilateral position paper.

Calenda is an “EU nationalist” and an anti-Italian. While tagging China as an enemy, he is not worried about predatory acquisitions in banking, infrastructure, transport, communications, industry, etc. by EU corporations in Italy.
