EDITORIALUse LaRouche’s Scientific Authority To Cut Through the ‘Sea of Turmoil and Confusion’Feb. 12 (EIRNS)—“The global strategic picture is very dynamic, fluid, promising and dangerous, all at once,” Helga Zepp-LaRouche stated in a Sunday discussion with LaRouche movement organizers across the United States. She pointed to a number of positive developments coming from the Trump administration—promising and constructive talks with China’s Xi Jinping; a new opening with Russia; potential economic cooperation with Japan on high-tech infrastructure; a statement of intent to wage a serious war on drugs—which means that “the potential exists to establish a level of Reason in international politics.” “However, it is also clear that this is very far from being settled: it is a potential,” Zepp-LaRouche emphasized. “A lot of things could go wrong, and a lot depends on the intervention of the LaRouche movement, because, in all modesty, I think that the LaRouche organization is the only one which has a scientific, coherent view of what the future of mankind must be. And other forces, as good as they may be, tend to have ideological flaws in this respect or that.” Fortunately, Lyndon LaRouche’s ideas from 50 years of intense scientific and political activity, are becoming the dominant attitude of the world today. They are dominating the global dynamic, Zepp-LaRouche stated, from China’s Confucian renaissance to Russia’s moving towards a moral society. They have laid the basis for putting an end to geopolitics and war, for good, and rebuilding the global economy around the principles laid out in LaRouche’s Four Laws. Mrs. Zepp-LaRouche went on to denounce the Color Revolution campaign launched against Trump because of the positive potential his administration represents. She specifically called out former President Barack Obama, who is at the center of the operation: “This is really incredible,” Zepp-LaRouche stated. “This has never happened with a President after leaving office. It seems that Obama is now personally organizing the Color Revolution!” In this charged environment, which Zepp-LaRouche described as a “sea of turmoil and confusion,” it is crucial to organize the population by taking the high ground, not by nitpicking or getting into the media-defined “hot issue” of the day, but by proposing what is needed from a policy standpoint. The two central matters facing Mankind today, she emphasized, are the danger of a thermonuclear world war, induced by British geopolitics, and the certainty of a total collapse of the trans-Atlantic financial system, if Glass-Steagall and Lyndon LaRouche’s Four Laws are not adopted. “The combination of the U.S., China, Russia, Japan, India and other major nations, is what is needed to get to a global New Paradigm… What is important is to overcome geopolitics, because that will lead to World War III, and then there would be no more Mankind to even talk about. “The second important thing is that the financial system is going to blow, big time. Therefore Glass-Steagall and Lyndon LaRouche’s Four Laws are what is absolutely essential. The non-implementation of Glass-Steagall to date, is the Achilles Heel of the Trump administration.” Everything positive that Trump has done so far will go up in smoke, Zepp-LaRouche concluded, unless Glass-Steagall is implemented. And that dictates, in terms of immediate action, a continuing campaign calling on Trump to use his Feb. 28 State of the Union address to announce a return to the original 1933 Glass-Steagall law of Franklin Roosevelt. U.S. ECONOMIC & POLITICALKiller Obama Sets Out To Lead Anti-Trump ‘Color Revolution’Feb. 12 (EIRNS)—New York Post reporter Paul Sperry exposed yesterday how Barack Obama—the former President who loves killing (and says so) and whose 2008 election was bought by Britain’s narco-speculator, George Soros—is setting up a high-walled mansion in Washington, D.C. to be the “bunker” from which he intends to run a “shadow government to not only protect his threatened legacy, but to sabotage the incoming administration.” Obama is mobilizing “an army of agitators—numbering more than 30,000—who will fight his Republican successor at every turn of his historic Presidency,” Sperry reported. Sperry focused on Organizing for Action (OFA), the political operation created out of Obama’s first presidential election to push his agenda, which is not closing up shop, but rather “gearing up for battle, with a growing war chest and more than 250 offices across the country.” And OFA operations are buttressed by the Obama Foundation and the so-called National Democratic Redistricting Committee, headed by former Attorney General Eric Holder, Sperry writes. The British-run Obama apparatus is agitating for a show of force during the Feb. 18-25 Congressional recess. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) instructed attendees at the Democratic Congressional retreat in Baltimore this week, to hold a “day of action” in their districts and town hall meetings in defense of Obamacare. Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) sent out a joint letter to fellow Senators urging them to organize rallies in defense of Obamacare for Saturday, Feb. 25, naming a Sanders aide as the contact person for the operation, according to The Hill. Generation Progress, the campus crusade of the Center for American Progress run by Hillary Clinton’s campaign head John Podesta, sent out an e-mail this weekend mobilizing its trainees to participate in the Week of Action. House-radical Bernie Sanders is throwing his all behind Obama and his anti-Trump mob. In interviews to CNN on Friday night and NBC’s Meet the Press this Sunday, Sanders called the President “delusional” and “a pathological liar.” Sanders has refused to introduce a bill to restore Franklin Roosevelt’s Glass-Steagall law into the Senate, which would crush Wall Street, and once again did not mention Glass-Steagall this weekend during his interviews, when he listed the “issues” upon which he wishes to recruit working people and youth into the Democratic Party. President Trump Announces Serious War on Drugs, But Must Include London/Wall Street BanksFeb. 10 (EIRNS)—In a Feb. 8 speech to the Major Cities Police Chiefs Association (MCCA) Winter Conference in Washington, D.C., President Donald Trump announced his policy for an all-out war on drugs, to be directed by Homeland Security Secretary, Gen. John Kelly (ret.). The speech came as Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, who has been a fierce opponent of Barack Obama’s drug legalization policies, was being confirmed as Attorney General. “Every child in America should be able to play outside without fear, walk home without danger, and attend a school without being worried about drugs or gangs or violence,” Trump told the MCCA gathering. “So many lives and so many people have been cut short. … So much potential has been sidelined. And so many dreams have been shattered and broken.” It’s time, Trump said, to “dismantle the gangs terrorizing our citizens, and it’s time to ensure that every young American can be raised in an environment of decency, dignity, love and support….” President Trump emphasized that his policy will not only be aimed at shutting down the drug trade, but also “address the mental health crisis. Prisons should not be a substitute for treatment. We will fight to increase access to lifesaving treatment to battle the addiction to drugs, which is affecting our nation like never before—ever.” To enact his policy, yesterday Trump issued an Executive Order instructing the Attorney General to “form a separate task force to focus on destroying transnational criminal organizations and drug cartels.” The order reads in part: “Transnational criminal organizations and subsidiary organizations, including transnational drug cartels, have spread throughout the nation, threatening the safety of the United States and its citizens…. These groups are drivers of crime, corruption, violence, and misery…. “In particular, the trafficking by cartels of controlled substances has triggered a resurgence in deadly drug abuse and a corresponding rise in violent crime related to drugs. Likewise, the trafficking and smuggling of human beings by transnational criminal groups risks creating a humanitarian crisis…. A comprehensive and decisive approach is required to dismantle these organized crime syndicates and restore safety for the American people.” He called for a report within 120 days on “transnational criminal organizations and subsidiary organizations, including the extent of penetration of such organizations into the United States.” What is missing from the Executive Order is mention of, and a strong commitment to cracking down on, the international banks that are up to their ears in the laundering of drug money, which is the only thing keeping the international banking system afloat. There is only brief mention of “corruption, cybercrime, fraud, financial crimes and intellectual property theft” as activities to be combatted, along with the “illegal concealment or transfer of proceeds derived from such illicit activities.” The LaRouche organization launched the War on Drugs magazine in 1980, and issued the book Dope, Inc. in multiple editions from 1980-2010, documenting that the drug business—the biggest business in the world—was run at the top by the British banks, going back to the Opium Wars against China in the 19th century, and continuing through to today. The Trump War on Drugs is a long needed reversal of the Obama policy of legalizing drugs, but it will fail if it avoids addressing the actual control by Dope, Inc.—the British Empire’s banking cartels. AFL-CIO Official Angry that Trump Has Abandoned Glass-Steagall, Sticks by Mnuchin—‘Thus Far’Feb. 12 (EIRNS)—AFL-CIO Director of Policy Damon Silvers published an angry op-ed in The Hill last night, going after President Trump for abandoning Glass-Steagall and appointing Steve Mnuchin and other Goldman Sachs people to his economic team. Although from his Trump-bashing tone, one might conclude that Silvers and the AFL-CIO had given up on winning the battle to change Trump policy on this score, Silvers prefaced his blast that Trump had sold out on his “promises to look out for regular working Americans,” with a key conditional note: “thus far.” “President Trump has put together an economic team completely dominated by Goldman Sachs alums, made attacks on the financial regulations and agencies that most directly protect working Americans and has completely abandoned the real Republican financial reform agenda —measures like restoring Glass-Steagall that would really help Main Street America,” Silvers wrote. Silvers stressed the need for Glass-Steagall, which he noted is also part of “the Republican Reform Agenda.” He wrote that “on the campaign trail, the president called for a 21st Century Glass Steagall Act, which would effectively separate regular, everyday banking on Main Street from high-stakes gambling on Wall Street. “It has long been embraced by leading Republicans, like Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN). As have other measures that would level the playing field between large firms and community banks and orient the financial system toward supporting the real economy, such as ending the carried interest loophole for hedge funds and private equity and placing size limits on the big banks.” NEW GLOBAL ECONOMIC ORDEROfficial Chinese Coverage: ‘The International Schiller Institute Holds Seminar on Belt and Road’Feb. 12 (EIRNS)—The following article dated Feb. 8, 2017 was posted on the official website of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, which we provide in rough translation. The International Schiller Institute held a seminar on the One Belt, One Road Initiative (OBOR) a few days ago in New York, featuring founder and chairwoman of the international Schiller Institute, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, and the Chairman and Secretary General of the China Energy Fund Committee, comrade Dr. Patrick Ho. About 50 scholars from Russia, U.S.A, China, plus media and business circles attended the seminar. Through live video broadcast Helga LaRouche went through Xi Jinping’s OBOR proposal, that it is on a mutually beneficial basis, offered to every country as a financial and economic platform. Europe and each and every country’s government with wisdom believe that the goal of this proposal is China’s help to revive the world’s economy, a great economic plan to immediately triple investment. To miss this economic fast train is absolutely not wise. Over 100 countries have already responded positively to the OBOR proposal. More than 40 countries and international organizations already participate in China’s initial (signing) agreement. The Chairwoman put forward that collaboration is a win, and that the idea of mutual development has for a long time been proposed by the SI as the basis for peace and dialogue. The SI concept (and that of OBOR) of mutual development happen to hold the same views. Helga LaRouche pointed out that President Trump is in the process of honoring his election promises; that he has declared he wants the U.S. to be placed in an honorable first position, and to introduce trade protection. But the world’s economy is weak, every nation must make a great mutual effort to develop the economy and to seek to strive for change of power. In the backdrop of globalization, it is in every country’s interest to be closely linked, and it is very important that all nations work in concert and seek to explore ways for mutual development. Mrs. LaRouche expressed that at present the U.S. should comply with the developing tide of history and accede to OBOR, and collaborate with Asia’s initiative. In the American government carrying out a positive infrastructure construction, China can participate in collaborating in this development to mutual benefit. Besides, the U.S. government appears to be improving relations with Russia, which will be beneficial for world peace and stabilization. If the U.S., Russia and India can develop a full collaboration, it will have a huge impact on the world economy, safeguarding and stabilizing the world, and promoting the establishment of a new, peaceful international economic order. Mrs. LaRouche appealed to the participants to make a great effort to promote the U.S. government to adopt positive measures to insure that the U.S. implement a mutual beneficial foreign policy. Dr. Patrick Ho proceeded to give a speech from the standpoint of the tradition of Chinese culture, relating to the Chinese adherence to the idea: do not unto others, as you would not have them do unto you (ji suo bù yù, wù shi yú rén), passed on as related to Zhang Qian (2nd Century BC), a diplomat to the western regions (in Han, west of Dunhuang), the story of Zheng He (leader of Ming naval expedition) who developed foreign trade, and elaborated in China’s proposal for peaceful dialogue, win-win collaboration, joint business sponsorship in the spirit of the Silk Road, propagating the Chinese people’s love of the idea of peace. His speech very deeply fascinated the participants of the seminar, who paid close attention, and it caused an extremely sympathetic response. According to China Economic Daily reporter’s understanding, the SI was founded in May 1984, and has multi-national branches in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Latin America, Australia, Thailand, India and Japan, each organized with their own national characteristics. The Institute’s name, Schiller, is commemorating the 18 Century German poet and writer, Schiller. SI devotes itself to seek to uphold the essence of human beings, and to advance the improvement of human rights. President Trump and Prime Minister Abe Hold Cordial Meeting; Japan Can Build U.S. InfrastructureFeb. 10 (EIRNS)—President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a press conference today before traveling together to Mar-a-Lago, Florida, as part of a three-day visit between the two leaders. Abe was one of the first leaders to meet with President Trump after the election, and the two have obviously struck up a very close personal and political relationship. “The chemistry between us is very good,” Trump said, “and that’s not going to change.” Trump called Japan an “important and steadfast ally” and called the U.S.-Japan alliance “the basis of peace in the Pacific region. The U.S. was Japan’s “fully engaged partner” and said they would work together on maintaining freedom of navigation. Abe, for his part, said that Japan has built infrastructure all over the world. “We have built factories in the U.S. and can build infrastructure all over the country including high-speed rail.” He said Japan could build a maglev between Washington and New York which would get President Trump from his D.C. office to Trump Tower in New York City in one hour! “We will be able to contribute to President Trump’s [infrastructure] program,” he said, noting that there would be a “cross-technology dialogue” to be held between the two countries, a “New Framework,” to be headed by Vice President Mike Pence and Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso. The Prime Minister predicted that, “With the Trump Administration there will be a new genesis of the U.S.-Japan relationship. The Vice President and the Prime Minister will discuss developing relations between the two countries. Treasury and the Finance Ministry will coordinate issues of financial cooperation, in a policy which would contribute to the prosperity of the world,” Abe added. Abe made several comments aimed at confrontation with China, including a call for “freedom of navigation,” a criticism of “state-backed industries” interfering in “free trade,” and concern over “intellectual property rights.” However, when a Japanese reporter asked Trump a question which challenged Trump’s reversal of Obama’s “pivot to Asia,” implying that Trump would not defend Asia from “Chinese aggression,” Trump did not take the bait. Instead he replied: “I had a very, very good conversation, as most of you know, yesterday with the President of China. It was a very, very warm conversation. I think we are on the process of getting along very well. And I think that will also be very much of a benefit to Japan…. We have conversations with various representatives of China, I believe, that that will all work out very well for everybody—China, Japan, the United States, and everybody in the region.” Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping Have a ‘Win-Win’ Telephone CallFeb. 10 (EIRNS)—Following up his Feb. 8 letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping, President Donald Trump had what can clearly be described as a win-win telephone discussion with the Chinese head of state today. While the Western media seem to be fixated on reporting Trump’s agreement with the One China policy, the Chinese side puts this further down in its reporting, in order to concentrate on the prospects for bringing China-U.S. relations to an historic high. Both sides described the telephone call as “lengthy” and “extremely cordial,” with both leaders expressing best wishes to each other’s peoples. “They also extended invitations to meet in their respective countries. President Trump and President Xi look forward to further talks with very successful outcomes,” the White house statement said. “President Trump agreed, at the request of President Xi, to honor China’s ‘One China’ policy,” a Chinese statement said. The two sides also signaled that with the “One China” issue resolved, they could concentrate on enhancing bilateral relations. “Representatives of the United States and China will engage in discussions and negotiations on various issues of mutual interest,” the statement said. Xi responded that he appreciated President Trump upholding the One China policy. “The development of China-U.S. relations can be complementary,” he told Trump. “Both sides can become good partners,” Xi said. President Trump said that maintaining high-level cooperation was important and that both nations should promote bilateral relations to an historic high level. The Chinese President underscored that both countries have maintained close communication on issues of common concern since Trump’s inauguration and noted the necessity and urgency of strengthening China-U.S. cooperation in the face of the current complicated international situation. Xi emphasized that China is committed to coexisting peacefully with other countries in the world, as well as to conducting win-win cooperation with them and is ready to boost mutually-beneficial cooperation with the United States in various fields such as trade and economy, investment, science and technology, energy, culture and infrastructure. UN Commission Adopts Xi’s Idea for Africa Resolution: ‘A Human Community with Shared Destiny’Feb. 11 (EIRNS)—The UN Commission for Social Development approved a resolution by consensus, on Feb. 10, which calls for more support to Africa’s economic and social development by embracing the spirit of building “a human community with shared destiny,” the concept stressed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The resolution, titled “Social Dimensions of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development,” marks the first time that a UN resolution has adopted the phrase which has become a hallmark in the speeches of Xi. It has also become the leitmotiv in the numerous speeches given by Schiller Institute Founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche in forums throughout the world. The new UN resolution, which identifies the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Maritime Silk Road, welcomes the efforts by all the parties concerned to further promote the process of regional economic cooperation, and social development in Africa. STRATEGIC WAR DANGERCIA Director Pompeo Awards Saudi Crown Prince bin Nayef—For Fighting Terrorism!Feb. 12 (EIRNS)—CIA Director Mike Pompeo was in Saudi Arabia Feb. 11, where he gave the CIA’s George Tenet Award for fighting terrorism to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef. The Prince said this showed that the U.S.-Saudi relationship was “strong and historic,” and explained how terribly committed Saudi Arabia is to fighting terrorism. In covering the story, RT correctly reminded its readers of Saudi Arabia’s long-standing support for terrorism. For example, “of the 19 suspected 9/11 hijackers, 15 of them were from Saudi Arabia, according to the CIA. In 2015, one of the alleged 9/11 hijackers, Zacarias Moussaoui, claimed several members of the Saudi royal family had been listed as al Qaeda donors in the database he worked on under orders of Osama bin Laden, CNN reports.” The RT article also reported that families of the victims of 9/11 are suing Saudi Arabia in U.S. courts, as permitted under the recently passed JASTA, or Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act. RT concluded that “Saudi Arabia has also been accused of funding extremists in Syria.” Lavrov: ‘I Am Adamant, Donald Trump Is Absolutely Sincere’ about Defeating ISISFeb. 12 (EIRNS)—Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told NTV yesterday that he is expecting to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in the near future, once his team is fully in place, and that he foresees cooperation with the Trump administration—including between their respective militaries—in defeating ISIS. “I am adamant, Donald Trump is absolutely sincere every time he confirms the intention to defeat ISIS. We are ready to cooperate with him. As soon as conditions allow, I am confident, cooperation and coordination between the military will begin taking shape again.” Lavrov also stated that he will discuss Ukraine with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. “I hope, the not-too-strong sprouts of understanding about what is really happening in Ukraine’s east, will be developing.” OTHERNazi Regime In Kiev Attempts To Silence Natalia Vitrenko; Economist Makes Appeal to EUFeb. 11 (EIRNS)—Dr. Natalia Vitrenko, Ukrainian economist and former MP and leader of the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine (PSPU) issued a video yesterday, presenting the latest evidence that the Ukraine Security Service (SBU) is attempting to silence her through a politically motivated frame-up on criminal charges of separatism, as well as the details of attempts to frame her up on false charges going back to 2014. The law under which she’s being targeted, “infringement of the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” was instituted after the U.S.-backed coup that overthrew Ukraine’s elected President Viktor Yanukovych, the third anniversary of which comes in less than two weeks. Dr. Vitrenko yesterday issued an appeal for intervention, to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, entitled “Help Stop the Defamation of a Ukrainian Opposition Party and Its Leader Natalia Vitrenko!” On Oct. 28, 2016, the offices of Vitrenko’s Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine (PSPU) were raided and occupied by paramilitary forces, acting in a real estate dispute involving the building’s landlord. The contents of the office property of the PSPU, its newspaper, associated organizations, and individual members were carted off and sequestered by the SBU. In November Vitrenko warned that the SBU could be combing through the confiscated computer files for evidence to use in reviving a 2014 criminal investigation of the Gift of Life women’s NGO, and Vitrenko personally as its head, on false charges of “infringing the territorial integrity of Ukraine.” This is Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of 10 years in prison. Pointing out that the Ukrainian Constitution guarantees citizens protection against false accusations, Vitrenko in the video details what the human rights defense activity of Gift of Life (founded in 2000) actually was in 2012-14, at which point it had to cease operations because the SBU caused its accounts to be frozen. Vitrenko also polemicizes in her video that if her economic program had been adopted by Ukraine in the mid-1990s, when as a member of Parliament she issued it in opposition to International Monetary Fund-prescribed deregulation and privatization, Ukraine would have been a thriving nation today; there would have been no economic hardship, such as made people fall for the “better life in Europe” slogans of the coup organizers, and thus there would have been no coup, no loss of Crimea, and no uprising in the Donbass leading to the deaths of 10,000 people. Far from “infringing” anything, Vitrenko states that her program would have protected Ukraine and guaranteed its future prosperity in cooperation with Eurasian development overall. Vitrenko has demanded a retraction of the Feb. 4 article on the Glavcom website, and yesterday issued her appeal to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. |
