Stop London’s Planned ‘Color Revolution’ in Hong Kong
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—The July 20 celebration of the 50th anniversary of Man’s landing on the Moon served as a powerful reminder to the entirety of humanity—all 7.5 billion of us—that there is a way forward for our species, a way based on peaceful cooperation among all nations on achieving the scientific breakthroughs needed to go back to space, and to solve the problems of poverty, financial collapse, and cultural decadence here on Earth. It reminded us that there is no need to tolerate the British Empire’s policy of Malthusian genocide and induced pessimism, which today masquerades in the form of a radically “green” environmentalist movement which brazenly calls for such depopulation.
And for anyone looking closely, and with a sense of the last half-century’s history, the Apollo 11 anniversary also demonstrated that Lyndon LaRouche was right all along in his concept for a fast-track program for fusion energy-based space exploration, as well as urging for a Four Power alliance—among the United States, China, Russia and India—to destroy the British Empire and lead the way for all nations out of the current crisis.
Such a Four Power alliance is the only way to avoid the twin dangers of a global financial meltdown, and a strategic confrontation between the U.S. and China, and the U.S. and Russia, which the British are trying to unleash—dangers which are both now on the immediate agenda facing the planet.
One of the most dangerous such hot spots is Hong Kong, where the British have launched a full-scale “color revolution” designed to not only destabilize Hong Kong itself, but to force the Chinese government to intervene militarily—as they have said they would if forced to, since Hong Kong is, after all, a part of China and not a separate sovereign nation. From there it would be a short step to provoke some sort of deadly violence, possibly by a “third force” run by foreign intelligence services, to then have a bloody shirt to wave.
It is worth remembering the both China and Russia have explicitly identified such “color revolutions” as a form of modern warfare.
The Chinese government and semi-official media have also been explicit that they see foreign hands behind the Hong Kong destabilization—both the British, who are the historic colonial power in Hong Kong, as well as pro-British elements ensconced in the Trump Administration, such as Mike Pompeo’s State Department, National Security Adviser John Bolton’s assets, and of course unhinged Members of Congress. President Trump has been far more measured, stating he understands the bind the Chinese government has been put in, “But I’m sure it’ll work out. I hope it works out for everybody, including China, by the way.”
The Aug. 12 edition of China Daily, for example, ran an article denouncing the historic role of the British, reminding people that “after slaughtering thousands in the Opium Wars, Britain flooded the country with the drug, killing countless more.” China Daily also reminded its readers: “Let’s not forget the millions of Indians killed in the Bengal famine engineered under British rule.”
Yet Britain’s Hong Kong provocation, as dangerous as it is, is only one among a number of similar destabilizations that they have unleashed with their global “strategy of tension,” which includes:
• The crisis in Kashmir, where India and Pakistan have been once again brought to the point of war over that disputed territory. China also views its national sovereignty as being threatened by India’s unilateral revocation of Kashmir’s autonomy, so there are now three nuclear powers—India, Pakistan and China—on a potential collision course which could even unleash regional nuclear war. China’s Xinhua news service again pointed the finger in the right direction: “When the South Asian subcontinent gained its independence after World War II, the British colonialists left behind them the Mountbatten Plan and a divided region, the root cause of turmoil and violence.”
• The ongoing attempted coup d’état against President Donald Trump, whom the British House of Lords have explicitly identified as a threat to their continued global dominance. Part of that ongoing coup is the broader “strategy of tension” underway in the United States itself in the form of mass shootings, increasingly oriented towards suicidal “green” Malthusian ideology.
• The economic warfare and other forms of destabilization variously targetting Russia, Iran, Venezuela, and of course China.
None of these policies actually serves American interests. Their common denominator is to extend the old paradigm of pessimism, warfare, and economic speculation and looting. They are designed to further the British Empire’s drive for preventing an alliance of the Four Powers from replacing their bankrupt system with one based on scientific advance, global economic development, and international cooperation among sovereign nation states. That, and nothing less than that, is America’s actual national interest: the common good of all mankind.
Lyndon LaRouche, you see, was right all along.
STRATEGIC WAR DANGER
Beijing Slams Foreign Meddling, ‘Turning Black into White,’ To Destabilize Hong Kong
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—The Chinese government today reiterated its demand that U.S. Congressional and other circles stay out of its internal affairs, after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Congress members condemned what they called acts of violence by police against protesters in Hong Kong. Numerous “protesters” have been caught on video using molotov cocktails, heavy slingshots, and other weapons to assault the police and others, as well as destroy property.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying was quoted by Reuters as saying the U.S. lawmakers “have disregarded the facts, turned what’s black into white, and characterized violent crimes as a beautiful fight for human rights and freedom.” “You should take care of your own business. HK is not a matter that needs your worrying, Hua said in the statement,” Reuters reported.
President Donald Trump has not joined in the China-bashing: “The Hong Kong thing is a very tough situation,” he told reporters today. “Very tough. We’ll see what happens. But I’m sure it’ll work out. I hope it works out for everybody, including China, by the way.”
The tone of Chinese media response remains very sharp. Xinhua ran an editorial Aug. 12 headlined “Stop Mobsters from Pushing Hong Kong into Abyss,” which warned: “Any connivance or support for the mobsters, any appeasement of them, or sophistry and excuses for them are an insult and defamation of the Hong Kong police force guarding their homeland.”
China Daily, a publication of the Chinese Communist Party, yesterday ran a lengthy article, “HK Protesters Have Their Flags Backward,” going after the British role in particular, reminding its readers of some historical issues. “Many demonstrators have taken to waving the colonial flag used for the territory before its return to China in 1997, and some go a step further, flaunting Great Britain’s current Union Jack or the flag of the United States to show their desire for Western-style government or even intervention by those countries.” The author continued: “Just in case there’s any genuine confusion, I can provide a couple quick reminders. After slaughtering thousands in the Opium Wars, Britain flooded the country with the drug, killing countless more. The heinous trade generated a feeding frenzy as multiple countries sapped China of its resources and left huge swathes of its population docile and dependent on an opiate fix. Unequal treaties, signed in quick succession by scheming imperialists, stole chunks of Chinese territory for foreign use.”
Over time, “certain segments [in Hong Kong] were won over to the idea of living as colonial subjects. This led to a sort of Stockholm Syndrome, where despite being occupiers the British were looked upon more favorably as time passed…. Not all flags are created equal. There’s a reason the flag of Nazi Germany is only flown by the most hateful people on the planet; that symbol has been rightfully shunned. Yet an equally noxious banner gets unfurled by myopic protesters…. Let’s not forget the millions of Indians killed in the Bengal famine engineered under British rule and no one bats an eye.”
Kashmir Remains an Extremely Dangerous Flash Point for War
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—Monday Aug. 12 was the first day of Eid al-Adha, an important Muslim holiday, and Kashmir remained under lockdown, “with Indian paramilitary soldiers lining roads, concertina wire spooled across road intersections and the capital’s key mosques shut down and circled by soldiers before dawn,” according to the Wall Street Journal. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Kahn continued to blast the Indian move of unilaterally ending the autonomy of Kashmir—which has been disputed for decades by India and Pakistan—saying “the current government in India is acting like Hitler’s Nazi Party,” and that India’s policy “will lead to suppression of Muslims in India and eventually lead to targeting of Pakistan.” Khan referred to what is going on in Kashmir as “ethnic cleansing,” and tweeted that the “ideology of Hindu Supremacy, like the Nazi Aryan Supremacy, will not stop.”
China is also not happy with what India did. Xinhua published an editorial commentary which warned that Kashmir has been “a flashpoint of two wars and a spate of armed conflicts between India and Pakistan over the past 70 years,” and that all sides must “avoid an explosion of the Kashmir powder keg.” Xinhua stated that “When the South Asian subcontinent gained its independence after World War II, the British colonialists left behind them the Mountbatten Plan and a divided region, the root cause of turmoil and violence.”
All of this affects China directly, the article went on. “New Delhi’s policy shift further complicates its boundary issue with China as its move to change the status of Kashmir includes the formation of Ladakh, where the western section of the China-India boundary is located, as one of the Union territories. Beijing has made it clear that its position remains unchanged that China is opposed to India’s inclusion of the Chinese territory into its administrative jurisdiction. And China will not recognize the legitimacy of India’s action to undermine China’s territorial sovereignty by unilaterally changing its domestic law.”
In the midst of the crisis, India’s Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar traveled to Beijing for high-level meetings on Aug. 11-13, including with Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vice President Wang Qishan. Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had been in Beijing just days earlier.
Wang Yi was sharp with his Indian counterpart, protesting that “India’s move doesn’t conform to the agreement between Beijing and New Delhi in upholding peace and tranquility along the border between the two countries,” according to China Daily. Jaishankar claimed India’s actions do not affect its border relations with China, and that “India is looking forward to the second informal meeting between the leaders of the two countries in India this year and is willing to make sure the meeting is a full success,” according to Xinhua.
COLLAPSING WESTERN FINANCIAL SYSTEM
Bankrupt Trans-Atlantic Financial System Is Running Out of Wacko Bailout Schemes
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—The financial news service Bloomberg ran an article yesterday reflecting the growing waves of panic sweeping the entire trans-Atlantic financial community, as they contemplate their bankruptcy and possible new crazy schemes to put off the day of reckoning.
“The rate on 30-year Treasury bonds approached an all-time low” this week, Bloomberg wrote, noting that even more significant than its current level is the speed at which the collapse is occurring. “The speed of this collapse means 1.318%—the all-time low set three years ago—is at risk of being broken this month or in September.” The catalyst for the plunge in U.S. rates, they explained, is the fall in rates elsewhere in the world, especially Europe.
This is all heading towards negative interest rates in the U.S., in hot pursuit of the rest of the world. Bloomberg quoted Mark Heppenstall, chief investment officer for Penn Mutual Asset Management, which has $27 billion under management: “There’s a lot of concern that negative rates are going to move onto U.S. shores.” There is already one Danish bank that is offering its customers negative interest rates on mortgages—i.e., borrowers have to pay back less than they borrowed.
Another bailout scheme under consideration by the Federal Reserve, according to the Wall Street Journal, is “a tool that could reduce the risk of a credit crunch in a downturn. The tool is known as the countercyclical capital buffer.”
Say what?! The idea is to activate a “tool” designed to make banks hold more capital in reserve to cover difficulties, in order to immediately go in the opposite direction and cut it—i.e., unleash yet another torrent of speculative financial capital.
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell explained at a late July press conference: “The idea of putting it in place so you can cut it, that’s something some other jurisdictions have done, and its worth considering,” The Wall Street Journal article explained that “Messrs. Quarles [Fed Vice Chairman] and Powell have cited the Bank of England’s approach as a possible model for the U.S.”
The City of London Corporation’s Role in Drugs and Green Genocide Is the Same
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—The City of London Corporation, which helped create the Green Financial Initiative (GFI), through which it intends to make the City of London into the center of green finance—financing what it hopes is tens of trillions of dollars into Malthusian projects—is also the hub of the banks’ world drug-money laundering and financing.
The City of London, which occupies 1.2 square mile (it’s even known as the Square Mile) inside the British capital, London, is a medieval institution, with feudalist thinking, that is the instrument of the British oligarchy. Literally, feudal guilds elect the Corporation’s leader, the Lord Mayor of London, who is distinct from the mayor of the U.K. capital.
In 2015, the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency issued a threat assessment, which stated, “We assess that hundreds of billions of U.S. dollars of criminal money almost certainly continue to be laundered through U.K. banks, including their subsidiaries, each year.” This report was featured in the Independent on July 4, 2015, under the headline, “London Is Now the Global Money-Laundering Center for the Drug Trade, Says Crime Expert.” Citing expert Robert Saviano, theIndependent wrote, “the cheapness and ease of laundering dirty money through U.K.-based banks gave London a key role in the drugs trade.”
On Sept. 28, 2018, TruePublica, a U.K.-based investigative website, reprised from one its 2016 reports: “In 2016, [Parliament’s] Home Select Affairs Secret Committee concluded that the London property market was the primary avenue for the laundering of £100 billion of illicit money a year. Yes, £100 billion laundered each year—in property alone.”
What is the black-box called the City of London Corporation? William the Conqueror, in 1067, one year after the Norman barbarians’ conquest of England, granted a charter, specifying special privileges, to the citizens inhabiting this quarter of London. Subsequent Royal Charters were proffered by Britain’s rulers over the centuries.
At the last census, the City of London had only 7,325 people living inside it, but hosts 2,700 bank and insurance companies, the Bank of England, and altogether 23,580 businesses that employ a workforce of 513,000.
This is the network which the book first commissioned by Lyndon LaRouche in 1978, Dope, Inc.: Britain’s Opium War against the U.S., directly went after; some in the Corporation fear that Brexit could limit its powers.
Something Is Rotten in the Banks of Denmark… Pardon, of the World!
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—A Danish bank is now offering mortgage loans at negative rates: Jyske Bank will offer 10-year mortgage bonds at a fixed rate of −0.5%. This occurs amid an unprecedented wave of mortgage refinancing: In July, borrowers refinanced $28 billion worth of mortgages for a 30-year, 1% fixed rate. The central bank of Denmark has had negative central bank rates longer than any other country, according to the Australian Financial Review, in the effort to peg the Danish krone to the euro.
Negative rates have already destroyed the credit sector, making it impossible for commercial banks to produce earnings by traditional activities of savings deposits and loans. The belated effort by Deutsche Bank to leave investment banking and return to commercial banking is therefore doomed to fail.
SCIENCE AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Rep. McClintock Predicts, Future Generations Will Look At Us as Nuts for Our Climate Panic
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA), ranking member of the Water, Ocean, and Wildlife Subcommittee in the U.S. House of Representatives, mocked the predictors of an “apocalypse now” climate crisis as akin to superstitious medieval peasants, in his keynote presentation to the Heartland Institute’s July 25 International Climate Conference. The Heartland Institute quoted McClintock in its conference summary:
“During the Little Ice Age from the 16th through the 18th centuries, superstitious locals would have exorcisms performed on the edges of advancing glaciers and would go on witch hunts to punish those responsible for the famine and disease and suffering that this era of prolonged cold produced.
“We laugh at the superstition and folly of those who blamed witchcraft for the severe climate change of the Little Ice Age, but I’m convinced future generations are going to be looking at ours in precisely the same way, except our generation won’t have the excuse of ignorance. With all of our knowledge and technology, we’ve allowed ourselves once again to be thrown into panic over forces that have been at work shaping our planet since it formed.”
At an earlier May 22 oversight hearing of his subcommittee on the subject of the UN’s “Global Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services,” McClintock, after challenging its unproven assertion that nearly million species face extinction, continued:
“There have been periods within both recorded history and throughout paleo history when scientists tell us temperatures were much hotter—and also much colder—than they are today. Science tells us that carbon dioxide levels have varied widely throughout the planet’s history, including periods when they were many times higher than today. Science tells us that at the peak of the last ice age, ocean levels were 400 feet lower than they are today. Hurricane activity is much lower than recorded in the 18th century.
“And despite what we are told, there is a vigorous debate within the scientific community over how human activity compares with vastly more powerful natural influencers that have driven climate change for 4.5 billion years….
“History, and especially recent history, is filled with apocalyptic predictions about the end of the world. We’re still waiting. The irony is that we look back and laugh at each generation that succumbs to these fits of hysteria…. Just imagine how future generations will view us.”
British ‘Reduce the Population!’ Kingpin Boasts, He Is ‘100% Behind’ Extinction Rebellion
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—Jonathan Porritt, president of Great Britain’s population-reduction NGO, “Population Matters” (founded in 1991 as the Optimum Population Trust), told a crowd of 550 people in Belfast on Aug. 6 that he was “100%” behind Extinction Rebellion and its plans for a global Sept. 20 “climate emergency” strike, because “we need the support and the enthusiasm of young people” for the “future of life on Earth.”
Life without humans, however. Sir Jonathon Porritt, Baronet, CBE, is no low-level activist. He was formerly an adviser to Prince Charles on “green matters,” serving as co-director of the Prince of Wales Business and Environment Programme; was a trustee for 12 years for Prince Philip’s genocidal WWF and still serves as a WWF “ambassador”; founded and still leads the U.K.’s umbrella “sustainable development charity,” Forum for the Future; and founded the U.K. Green Party, Friends of the Earth; etc.
When he came in as president of Population Matters in late 2018, Porritt published a rant against the WWF for not being sufficiently aggressive in campaigning to reduce the population. “I’m seething with anger at the craven cowardice” which makes environmentalists avoid controversies, Porritt wrote. “Where most of today’s population growth is going on—in Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia and Central and South America. Which makes it tricky, doesn’t it, for us predominantly white folk in the U.K. to talk about populations in countries which are predominantly black or brown or Hispanic? Or predominantly Muslim.”
The WWF only talks about “over-consumption—as if consumption somehow has nothing to do with the number of people doing the consuming! As if the number of middle-class consumers isn’t increasing year on year, as many of the world’s developing and emerging countries improve the material living standards of more and more of their citizens.” The WWF proposes various pathways to “restore biodiversity,” but “given what’s actually happening in India, China, and countries across Africa and Central and Latin America, this is little short of a monstrous lie,” he wrote.
U.S. POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC
Trump Postpones 10% Tariff on Chinese Goods
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—The U.S. Trade Representative’s Office announced today that there will be a delay until Dec. 15 in the imposition of a 10% tax on imported Chinese goods, which President Donald Trump had announced earlier this month. The delay applies to articles, including “cell phones, laptop computers, video game consoles, certain toys, computer monitors, and certain items of footwear and clothing.”
On Aug. 12, Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, chief of the Chinese side of the China-U.S. comprehensive economic dialogue, held a phone conversation with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, his counterparts in the ongoing negotiations. President Trump told the press today that he was delaying the imposition of the tariffs because “we had a very good talk yesterday with China—a very, very productive call. I think they want to do something. I think they’d like to do something dramatic…. They really would like to make a deal.”
Asked if he would consider delaying the tariffs beyond Dec. 15, President Trump said: “No, we’re doing this for Christmas season, just in case some of the tariffs would have an impact on U.S. customers.”
The easing of tensions was welcome news on both sides of the Pacific, although tensions between the U.S. and China remain. MarketWatch reported yesterday that Goldman Sachs’s chief U.S. equity analyst David Kostin was warning that tensions could rise starting next Monday, Aug. 19, when the 90-day “exemption that allowed U.S. firms to sell certain products and services to Chinese telecom firm Huawei will expire.” Kostin stated: “A further extension appears unlikely given the U.S. government announced that federal agencies are prohibited from doing business with Huawei…. Retaliation by China appears possible should the Aug. 19 deadline pass without another extension.”
Democratic Majority Leader Sticks Snout into Moscow Electoral Affairs
Aug. 13 (EIRNS)—Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) issued a statement of solidarity yesterday for protesters in Russia whom he asserted are “seeking to restore democracy,” and then declared in the name of the U.S. House of Representatives, that what happens in upcoming Moscow City Council elections somehow is now a matter of concern for the U.S. Congress. “The Putin regime’s crackdown on free speech and on opposition candidates running for office ought to alarm the world, and the United States Congress is closely monitoring developments; Congress stands with those in Russia seeking democracy and a government free from rampant corruption,” Hoyer declared.
Hoyer was endorsing protesters who have taken to the streets of Moscow for the last five weekends in a row, ostensibly protesting that various opposition figures were excluded from the ballot for the Sept. 8 City Council elections, because of irregularities in their petition signatures. Western media coverage has been playing up the protests as a sign of political trouble for President Putin.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov today told reporters: “We disagree with those who call the events a political crisis. It is not a crisis. Protests happen in many countries around the world. They concern concrete issues. Protest demonstrations occur in European capitals and around the world.”
Candidates contesting their exclusion from the ballot should take their case to the courts, and authorities will investigate charges of police brutality, he said. If an illegal rally spirals into mass riots, it can be described as “organized disorders…. We have seen various videos. Law enforcement officers indeed had to face violence. Investigations are underway aimed at confirming or denying that there were attempts to disobey police orders and resist police officers,” and the courts, not the executive branch will decide.
The Russian Federal Assembly’s lower house, the State Duma, announced yesterday that it will hold a special hearing on foreign interference in Russia’s domestic affairs on Aug. 19. Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin told reporters that all State Duma political factions agreed that foreign interference into Russian domestic affairs should be investigated, and some action taken.
