EU Trade Commissioner Cecelia Malmstrom who heads up the trade commission at the European Directorate and is therefore responsible for the EU side of negotiations on the secret and much opposed trade deal with the USA, the TTIP, when asked why she can even contemplate going ahead with the trade deal against overwhelming opposition stated that she ‘doesn’t take her mandate from the people of Europe.’
