Totally Discredited Russiagate Coup Must Be Shut Down, for the Sake of Humanity

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—Schiller Institute President Helga Zepp-LaRouche presented a dramatic and optimistic perspective of what world citizens can achieve if they mobilize their fellow citizens to action in her international webcast address today on the Schiller Institute’s weekly “New Paradigm” show today, in reviewing President Donald Trump’s United Nations address.

Helga LaRouche said President Trump emphasized these four points at the UN today which Western media failed to convey:

1) All nations have the right to make sovereign decisions on economic and political policies. He attacked the failure of free trade institutions, the failure of the WTO, and the International Criminal Court and the UN Human Rights Council, all of which the Schiller Institute has attacked.

2) Other cultures are important for their contributions to the advancement of mankind.

3) A new picture of patriotism is emerging.

4) Global “free trade” institutions have failed.

The leaders President Trump chose to hold “sidebar” meetings with tell the real story. Trump met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, to discuss North Korea’s potential to follow what Mrs. LaRouche had dubbed the “Singapore model,” after their June 12 breakthrough summit in Singapore, demonstrating such a rapid rate of progress is not only possible, but again under active discussion.  President Trump referred to South Korean President Moon as “more than a friend.” Russian Prime Minister Lavrov praised President Trump’s success in North Korea, and pledged Russia’s help. Following President Trump’s meeting with Moon Jae-in, it was mooted that President Trump and North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un would meet soon. All of this was blacked out by the media, as was President Trump’s sideline summit with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and the growing hope for a Peace Treaty between Japan and Russia before the end of the year, which would launch a new platform of economic growth.

President Trump met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, and said that he would endorse either a “one-state” solution or a “two-state solution”—whichever Palestine and Israel agreed on.

At President Trump’s meeting with the new Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, they discussed not only Libya, the whole Mediterranean policy, but according to some Italian press reports, it was also discussed that Italy could play a mediation role between the United States and Iran. Helga LaRouche emphasized how extremely important this is, because Italy is the only European nation that has adopted a policy of cooperation with Trump’s United States, andItaly’s new government has acted to show the way in its own development of excellent relations with China.

President Trump’s emphasis on not enforcing U.S. values on others is key.

Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councillor Wang Yi met with U.S. business leaders where he reiterated the necessity to go back to a positive U.S.-China relation. He reacted sharply and quickly to the accusation by Trump that the Chinese had meddled in the midterm election, apparently referring to a paid insert by a Chinese company placed in the Sept. 23 Des Moines Register, which had referred to the tariffs.

Helga LaRouche pointed to a warning in China Daily of the danger that such accusations will move beyond trade, and drain the mutual trust between America and China. It is good that President Trump talks of sovereignty, Helga LaRouche said, but sovereignty is for all, not just the United States. She referenced the fact that the Global Timescarried an editorial that cited the principles of the Peace of Westphalia, which ended Europe’s Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648) with a treaty specifying that each country is sovereign and equal, and should “work for the good of the other.”

Mrs. LaRouche also pointed to President Trump’s mistaken belief in the great success of his economic policies, as his Achilles’ heel, while even some in the U.S. point to a potential blowout even before the midterm elections, citing growth in all categories of debt since the 2008 collapse: state, consumer, student, and corporate debt. Helga LaRouche reminded her worldwide audience that Lyndon LaRouche has stated the reason the United States went wrong is the shift away from the 1960s paradigm epitomized in his “Four Laws,” emphasizing that the U.S. must reindustrialize by fostering the most modern technologies, such as fusion power.

Helga LaRouche noted that British intelligence operations led by its top experts, “Five Eyes” stars such British Prof. Stefan Halper, and Australian diplomat Alexander Downer, both involved in setting up Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos, are now exposed as behind “Russiagate.” Now the hapless U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is exposed, having participated in a March 2017 meeting with FBI and Department of Justice officials discussing whether to use the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to prove Trump’s mental incompetence to serve as President, and at which wearing wires to set the President up was raised. But if Rosenstein attended such a meeting, he didn’t blow the whistle on it, but instead hired the notorious Robert Mueller to investigate Trump. Everything about that 2017 meeting should be made public, and the President should declassify the documents—open it up! As U.S. columnist Patrick Buchanan wrote, “The integrity of the U.S. Republic is more important than the objections to declassification by the British!”

Helga LaRouche concluded: “I would urge all of you not to sit on the sidelines … because this is the period when history is being made:  Trump is doing extremely important things, and if he is not correct on all points, that is not the point—when has a President ever attacked those institutions of the British Empire? …We should really understand that the midterm election is important for war and peace, … [which] is really essential. And help us to bring in the economic discussion, of physical science as it was developed by Lyndon LaRouche; the need to have New Bretton Woods conference, immediately, among the most important powers—United States, Russia, China, and India—is of utmost importance.  This is the focus of our mobilization … where we are circulating our petition.”

NEW WORLD ECONOMIC ORDER

Trump Using Italy as Bridge towards Iran

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—According to a U.S. diplomatic source who spoke to the Italian daily La Verità, “Washington cannot completely drop Iran for security reasons, and in the current scenario, Italy represents the perfect bridge, including because only Italy, among major European countries, showed willingness to work with Trump’s United States.”

Yesterday at the UN, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Earlier in the day, Conte had a working breakfast with Trump, and Conte’s diplomatic advisor Pietro Benassi had a long talk with National Security Advisor John Bolton, which focused on Libya, but also included Iran.

Conte also met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, while in New York.

Trump Gives Support to Two-State Solution for Palestine and Israel

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—At a meeting and press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday before their bilateral meeting, President Donald Trump endorsed the two-state solution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He also said, if “appropriate,” he would help mediate between Israel and Russia over the Sept. 17 shooting down of a Russian aircraft over Syria.

On the question of a two-state solution, Trump said: “That’s what I think works best. That’s my feeling. Now, you may have a different feeling. I don’t think so. But I think two-state solution works best.”

Later in the afternoon, Trump told his own news conference that reaching a two-state solution is “more difficult since it’s a real estate deal.” He reiterated his position that it is up to the two to decide, what solution they want. “Bottom line: If the Israelis and Palestinians want one-state, that’s OK with me. If they want two states, that’s OK with me. I’m happy if they’re happy.”

In his remarks with Netanyahu yesterday he disclosed: “It is a dream of mine to get that done prior to the end of my first term. I don’t want to do it in my second term. We’ll do other things in my second term. I think a lot of progress has been made. I think that Israel wants to do something and I think that the Palestinians actually want to do something.”

Asked what Israel might have to give up in return for the U.S. Embassy’s move to Jerusalem, Trump replied: “I took probably the biggest chip off the table and so obviously we have to make a fair deal, we have to do something. Deals have to be good for both parties…. Israel got the first chip and it’s a big one.”

Speaking at the same press conference yesterday, Trump indicated his readiness to hold a discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the tension between Israel and Russia: “I will talk if it’s appropriate, when it’s appropriate. Yes, I will do that.”

Israeli media observed that Trump, unlike last year, discussed the Middle East peace process, which they say could indicate that his long-awaited peace plan might be forthcoming soon.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Maliki said Trump’s broad commitment to a two-state solution was not enough. “He has to spell it clearly … the two states (based on 1967 borders), that East Jerusalem is an occupied territory. These [issues] are very important for us in order us to really move forward,” Maliki was quoted as saying by Reuters in New York.

Asked if he would engage with the United States when it releases its peace plan, Maliki said: “Not at all. … As long as he is sticking to his decisions about Jerusalem, about [Israeli] settlements, and about moving the embassy, there is no way.”

The Palestinians are obviously reacting to the closing of their office in Washington and the reduction of aid.

Lavrov Lauds Trump’s Convening UN Security Council on WMD Proliferation as ‘Timely’

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov praised President Donald Trump’s initiative to hold a session of the UN Security Council devoted to the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and proceeded to put on the table some very important WMD issues, reported TASS. “We expect that a step in this direction (to tighten control over weapons) will mark today’s session of the UN Security Council. In this regard, we find President Trump’s initiative on convening this session very timely,” Lavrov said during the Security Council session. The U.S. holds the presidency of the UNSC for September.

Lavrov also said, of reports that weapons of mass destruction had been handed to terrorists in Syria: “Facts of these handovers exist and they should be carefully investigated. … I think everybody agrees that the UN Security Council resolutions that outline specific measures against violations of non-proliferation must be strictly observed.” He went on: “Basic Resolution 1540 remains the cornerstone, since it contains the member states’ commitments to take practical steps in order not to allow weapons of mass destruction to go into the hands of non-state actors.”

Lavrov also brought up the Skripal case urging the British authorities to cooperate with Russia in the investigation. “We call on London once again to establish a fruitful dialogue for establishing truth,” he said.

The diplomat also brought up the question of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), charging that Western nations’ attempts to impose on it the function of establishing the guilty parties, degrades the responsibilities of the UN Security Council, which has that authority via the Chemical Weapons Convention. “The situation in the OPCW is degrading, as our Western counterparts are seeking to impose the so-called attributing functions on its technical secretariat,” he said. “In doing this they violate grossly the Chemical Weapons Convention and meddle with the prerogatives of the UN Security Council.”

Bolivian Diplomat: China Credit Aids Our Industrial Leap Forward—Unlike IMF or World Bank

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—Bolivia’s Ambassador to Cuba Juan Ramon Quintana, a key policymaker who was chief of staff to President Evo Morales for many years, was asked by EIR’s Gerardo Castillo yesterday to comment on China-Africa cooperation and the urgent need for Ibero-American nations to likewise form a great bloc in order to establish a similar relationship with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Castillo raised the question during a conference given by Ambassador Quintana in Mexico City organized by the Labor Party, which is part of President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s governing coalition.

The ambassador replied by contrasting what the traditional international financial institutions offer Bolivia, and what China has provided. The first condition which the IMF, World Bank, and Inter-American Development Bank imposed was the privatization of some resource or state company, he said.

He continued: “In contrast, in the relationship with China, they give us credits without conditionalities, where the Bolivian State defines the area of investment, and there is also technology transfer, which expands our economy and which is not going to tie us down. They transfer technology and the credits drive industrialization. Unlike the international financial organizations which give you credit for services, but not to transform the economy, not for a great industrial take-off, not to develop geothermal or nuclear energy.

“No, for that they don’t give you credit, because they say that Bolivia, an underdeveloped country, a country with little Indians who don’t bathe, who only speak Aymara or Quechua—for them, oh no. This is the civilizing logic of international financial discipline and dependence. The worst thing which exists in Latin America is the foreign debt,” he said.

COLLAPSING WESTERN FINANCIAL SYSTEM

EU ‘Budget Discipline’ Disintegrates

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—According to the ominous EU “Stability Pact,” highly indebted countries should reduce their budget deficit every year in order to reduce the debt/GDP ratio. But Italy’s revolt against such an idiocy is now being followed by other countries, and, as a result, the EU nightmare is coming true: Budget discipline in the EU is gone.

First, France announced an increase in its deficit to 2.9% of GDP, due to tax cuts. Yesterday, Spain, too, announced that it will increase the budget deficit in 2018. The government announced a 2.7% figure, eventually corrected by the central bank to 2.8%.

Meanwhile in Rome, amid rumors of supposed resistance by Finance Minister Giovanni Tria, Deputy Prime Ministers Matteo Salvini and Luigi Di Maio agreed on increasing the deficit to 2.4% of GDP.

The EU Commission had warned all three countries, plus Portugal and Belgium, in a recent report, and demanded “fiscal adjustments”: “Italy, Portugal, France, Belgium and Spain are considered it high risk in the medium term based on the [medium-term sustainability] S1 indicator. In these five countries a significant fiscal adjustment is required to ensure medium-term sustainability by achieving the debt target of 60% of GDP in 2032.”

Germany’s Chancellor Facing Her Twilight, or ‘Merkelsdämmerung’

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—Two days after German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s defeat in the election for the CDU/CSU faction chief in the Bundestag, the daily Bild reports that Merkel is considering resigning as party chairwoman, in order to allow for an orderly succession, but she is waiting for the result of the Hessen state elections, in which a CDU defeat is expected, and for the so-far secretly planned meeting of the CDU leadership on Nov. 4-5. The usually venomous tabloid asks today, “Who will write a letter to Merkel?” referring to her own famous open letter in 1999, by which Merkel overthrew her mentor, Helmut Kohl and replaced him at the top of the Christian Democratic Union.

Meanwhile, EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger, a CDU member, has called Merkel “a lame duck,” prompting a hasty legal aid from EU Commission Chairman Jean-Claude Juncker. Juncker’s spokesperson stated that “Juncker called Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday and did not have the impression he was speaking with a lame duck.”

As for the new head of the CDU parliamentary faction Ralph Brinkhaus, Die Welt today carries a profile quoting Brinkhaus rejecting French President Emmanuel Macron’s EU budget reform plan last November: “I currently do not see the need for a Eurozone budget, managed by an EU Finance Minister.” However, do not expect competence from Brinkhaus, as he is the “Barney Frank” of Germany—he was the author of the “Muckefuck” ersatz financial reform, which he claimed was a banking separation rule.

Honduran President States We Are Staying with Taiwan, ‘For the Time Being’

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez is upping pressure for increased U.S. economic aid by raising the growing “China factor” in Central America. Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador form the so-called “Northern Triangle” which suffer unbearable drug gang violence, and until El Salvador established relations with China last month, all had had relations with Taiwan.

U.S. cuts in the Alliance for Prosperity economic assistance program for the Northern Triangle will have “repercussions,” President Hernandez told Reuters on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Reuters reported that he said that China’s growing role in Central America “posed a ‘quandary’ for the region, but also ‘an opportunity for all,’ provided there are ‘clear rules.’ Other countries would likely follow the lead of El Salvador and Panama soon, he added,” wrote Reuters.

Hernandez told agency, “We see that things are changing in Central America. I think the United States has been a bit late to see it.”

Will Honduras recognize the People’s Republic of China?

“We’re still with Taiwan. Each country follows the principle of self-determination; that it can make its own decisions. For the time being, we’re betting on a commercial relationship with Taiwan, a window to enter the Asian market,” he replied.

U.S. POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC

Calls Are Growing To Declassify Rosenstein Memo on Mueller Investigation, Too

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—Longstanding Bush family counsel C. Boyden Gray and former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey are the latest to argue for the President to declassify Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein’s August 2017 memo amplifying Robert Mueller’s mandate, along with the other “Russiagate” documents.

Justice Department Special Counsel regulations (28 CFR SEC. 600 et seq.), and the regulations contained in the DOJ’s “Domestic Investigations and Operations Guide” require that any Special Counsel investigation be predicated on an identified criminal offense, beforethe investigation can begin, Gray and Mukasey point out in an op-ed in The Hill yesterday.

No such criminal offense is identified in Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s May 17, 2017 letter appointing Robert Mueller as Special Counsel. Rosenstein amplified on Mueller’s mandate in an Aug. 2, 2017 memo—but that remains classified. If there was no crime identified, they argue, “This, then, would be a complete perversion of the American tradition of investigating crimes, not persons, as so eloquently articulated by then-Attorney General (later Supreme Court Justice) Robert H. Jackson in 1940, when he observed that the prosecutor’s most dangerous power is that he will pick people that he thinks he should get, rather than cases that need to be prosecuted.”

(Boyden Gray, who played his designated role in the 1980s “Get LaRouche” operation as Vice-President Bush’s counsel during the Boston case, certainly knows a thing or two about prosecutorial abuse.)

Col. Pat Lang Demonstrates That Kavanaugh Circus Is Part of ‘Silent Coup’ against Presidency

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—Retired Col. Pat Lang spoke out against the Brett Kavanaugh hearing circus in an editorial this week, writing in his “Sic Semper Tyrannis” blog on Sept. 24: “This is a coup that seeks to deny the Republican Party the ability to govern by abandoning the customs and norms of civility that lie at the center of the U.S. form of government, while reverting to the law of the jungle ‘red in tooth and claw.’ ”

Democrats are out to delay the Kavanaugh confirmation “in the hope that they will recover one or both houses of Congress,” then “pass bills of impeachment against Trump and probably Kavanaugh as well. If they also control the Senate, then one or both might result in convictions and removals,” he wrote. “This would not be politics.  It would be war conducted as politics,” Lang warned. The Democrats “should not expect that such actions would be meekly accepted.”

South Dakota Candidate Wieczorek: ‘We Don’t Need To Oust Trump, We Need Friendship Diplomacy’

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—Today at the South Dakota Stockgrowers State Convention, Independent Congressional candidate Ron Wieczorek addressed the gathering with a short, packed briefing on the nature of the economic crisis and what must be done. He stressed, “We don’t need to oust Trump”: Instead, our country needs to support friendship policies with China, Russia, India, Japan and other powers, and create conditions for peace and development. He blasted the “foreign power” that intervened in the 2016 U.S. elections, which is Britain, he said, not Russia.

Wieczorek surveyed the historical points in the subversion of the U.S. and world economy, from the 1971 floating exchange rate that ended the Bretton Woods accord, the 1994 World Trade Organization, and 16 years of destruction under George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He explained what the United States must now do, including restoring FDR’s Glass-Steagall Act and related measures to cordon speculative banking, and organize a “Four Powers” agreement among the U.S., Russia, China, and India to implement a “New Bretton Woods” monetary system that will benefit all nations.

Wieczorek addressed people very directly: South Dakota doesn’t need “to send a message to Washington,” as other candidates are saying. “There are way too many message-mongers in Washington, D.C. already,” he countered. Instead, “South Dakota needs to send a human being” who will back restoring classical culture and education, restore sound banking, and bring about a just economy for all.

After Wieczorek, who raises Charolais cattle, the Democratic and Republican contenders for the state’s single, at-large Congressional seat spoke.

This is the 127th annual convention of the stockmen’s group. South Dakota is a top cattle state, ranking fifth in the number of beef cows. Some 150 ranchers and others, plus exhibitors, attended today’s opening session of the three-day event. Wieczorek and a volunteer distributed roughly 200 program brochures from the campaign, which includes LaRouche’s economic “Four Laws.”

The convention was keynoted by Bill Bullard, chief executive of R-CALF, a 20-year national association representing cattle and sheep stockmen, who spoke out about the current drastic consolidation in meat processing as the last phase of independent cattle raising in the U.S., unless changed.

LaRouche PAC at Michigan 12th District Meet the Candidates

Sept. 25 (EIRNS)—A “Meet the Candidates” reception hosted by Jeff Jones, the Republican Congressional candidate for the 12th District of Michigan, gave 35 voters an opportunity to hear from candidates invited from the 14 state House seats and 8 Senate seats that overlap the 12th District. Other local candidates in Michigan also gave presentations.

Jones introduced LaRouche PAC representative Ron Kokinda and invited him to make brief remarks. Jones described LaRouche PAC as an organization that can explain why many things happen that puzzle Americans, such as U.S. involvement in Afghanistan and broader economic issues.

We are up against the British Empire, Kokinda began, identifying the true interference in the 2016 Presidential election, the LaRouche movement’s run-ins with Special Prosecutor Mueller as laid out in LaRouche PAC’s dossier on Mueller, and the strategic issues, including the increased danger of war if an impeachment Congress were to be elected in November. President Donald Trump might have to act on the debt crisis before the midterm election, Kokinda said, but he has the connections to put a New Bretton Woods international monetary system, in place as long as his base understands what is involved and backs him.

The LaRouche PAC remarks were well received. Subsequent informal discussions included topics such as the British Empire; natural law; the philosophy of Gottfried Leibniz versus John Locke and the Confederate versus the U.S. Constitution; and why Leibniz engaged in a deep study of Confucius.

The next day, Jones posted a photo of Kokinda speaking to Facebook, and included two links, one to the LaRouche PAC lead item on Trump speaking to the UN, and a second on the LaRouche PAC statement on his campaign with his intro: “Great to be endorsed by the LaRouche PAC.” The post was expected to go out to approximately 100,000 individuals in the 12th District (with an expected roughly 10% open rate), and was available to the Facebook public generally.
